changing my rear bearings on a mk2 ibiza and the bearings on one f the wheels has stuck. it shattered so i changed it but when it broke the inner part of the bearing has staed on the stub axel, i cant get it off with brut force or by trying to prize(SP) it off with a screw driver. now i dont know how to get it off, and the wheel wont go bk on without it off.

any ideas tips?

or am i just lookin at WD-40 patience and more persistance

trying using heat and cold.. shrink the stub axle by cooling it down with C02 fire extinguisher or an aerosol spray, and gently heat the race with a flame. it is a common problem when working on Alfa's when replacing the bell housing bearing, that they do not come off easy, this works and saves lots of sweat.

open a can of this stuff, its really good.

stuck bearing

the idea is not to grind throught but to thin it out .then because the bearing center is hardend a sharp crack with a good chisel will put a crack in the bearing center which will then just pull off and the cleaning of the stub with wet n dry is to stop it sticking again:confused:

nice one cheers guys, i ended up just demeling the barstuard off. kept pulling but for the life of it wasnt going to move. as said i cut through almost the whole way, then all the way through with a blade then smacked it with a screw driver and the ace split and then pulled off. what a bitch tho, didnt think it was going to come off.

oh, drums now look mint ive painted them matt black and they look like new.

thanks again
