Help needed to get a show shine.

Hi guys,

Ive been flicking through this part of the forum getting helpful tips for cleaning the car.

Im really wanting the Red to come up well for Edition38 so need a few extra tips for cleaning.

I have never used a clay bar, but ive heard and read that they are easy enough to use. (if you do it right)

Any tips when claying the car would be helpful. Also, what seallant should i use after i do it.

When you use the clay leave the car wet after the wash and use plenty of the clay lube. Split the clay into 2 pieces and put then in some hot water before using them. This helps to keep the clay soft and won't damage the paint. The reason for splitting into 2 is that if you drop it you have another piece. If you do drop it then put it in the bin as grit will stick to it and scratch the car.

You have to keep kneading the clay and folding it to keep it soft. Another thin to do is use tar remover before you clay as this will get rid of the bigger, harder to remove tar spots. get some AutoGlym Tar remover and put it in a spray bottle. Mist it onto the car and leave for a few minutes before wiping off. Make sure you wash the car again before claying. DO NOT get tar remover near the clay as it can cause it to crumble and fall apart. Wash the car again after claying.

Been having a look on cleanyourcar.co.uk and wondering what stuff to buy.
So much to choose from.

Will defo give that a try. Going to order stuff this afternoon.

So the idea is really keep the clay soft and use plenty of clay lube. Will need to take my time.

Once you have the clay soft, stretch it flat so that its easy to use. You want it about the size of..........eh.........like when you do the OK sign with you thumb and index finger. Its so that you can move it around with your finger tips.

Don't use too much pressure and move it back and forth like you would use sand paper.

Its the Sonus Green Clay im going to get. along with the Sonus detailer spray.

After reading through the Detailingworld stuff its good for beginners.

Will post up when ive had a go at it.
