My instrument panel and dash lights are not working. I have checked the fuses and they seem ok. Interior light works ok.
Took the light switch out and checked the connections and re-seated them - still no joy. Had a fiddle with the dimmer switch but this ist working.
Recently I did the pedal box fix and was moving the fuse box about a bit, maybe something has come disconnected. Looked on the back of fuse 15 and all seems connected.

Cant drive it in the dark at the moment!

Will one bulb stop all the dash lights from working? the heater switch lights arent coming on either.

Replaced the Light Switch today - no luck. Then the bulbs still no luck.
Have run out of ideas now...

can someone confirm the fuse number so I can rule this out, thanks

is doesnt matter if u turn it up or down there is not dash lights!

Still no dash lights , replaced the switch and the bulbs - no luck...

bump!!

Have you got a voltage tester? Test to see if you have power, and test continuity to ground. Could be on the ground side your having problems...

Same happened to me..... next thing you will notice is the dials bouncing around..... it is a loose earth under the bonnet.

where is the ground for the dash lights?
I thought it could be a loose wire go from headlamp switch to back of fuse box.

The ground for the dash is right in front of you as you open the bonnet. You will see two sort of connectors sat just right of the engine itself. The ground for the dash is the bottom one.

Hope this makes sense?? If not, I`ll get a pic up tmw when its lighter.

Mine`s a `99 tdi...... not sure whether this makes a difference??

is it just behind the battery? a pic would be great if you can get one.
