Hi

Hope someone might be able to point me in the right direction.

Just on the way home it started juddering and and felt like it was loosing power. Opened the bonnet and the engine seems to be moving excessively and oil has found it's way all over things looks to be more oil round the filler cap area.

Is there anything g to start looking at 1st before I have to take it somewhere.

Cars a mk2 cupra.

Cheers. :(

Blown Turbo possibly?

turn off, let the oil drain into the sump & then check the oil level 1st - you don't want the engine running on next to no oil. Top the oil up if you need to.

ideally, get a mate to rev the engine while you look to see if you can see any obvious leakage

You can see where the oil has been, near filler cap etc.

Not checked the coolant system.

front of engine rocker cover between the thin shiny black pipe and the pcv vavle. that looks nice and shiny and not screwed in to me

Yeah does seem strange. Only had a full service week and a half ago. Sure they would have noticed that sticking up so must have come loose some time in between that!!

perhaps whoever serviced your car left that screw undone, if they had you cover off?

a bit strange if this has happened after it's been worked on......

Can people please start to put which specific engine they are talking about in the thread title/ main post? Otherwise the forum is pretty much useless.

So had it plugged in on a code reader. Was showing a misfire on cylinder 4. Not sure if could be coilpack.

But I still can't understand why the oil would be all over .

Did you have your cam belt changed at your service ?

If not check what work was carried out.
If you have oil coming out of the filler cap 100% failed Pcv valve , the juddering is from the emissions system not being sealed and the positive crankcase pressure being released.

Turn your car on , sit at idle , open the bonnet and remove the dipstick , I your pcv is ok the car should shudder and the revs hunt and try to stall , if there is no change then the pcv is knackered.
Just check the connections first because it's weird you had a loose bolt and if your cam belt was replaced then they will have removed your rocker cover.
