hi guys, I've just got a 1.4 sport as a courtesy car whilst my mk3 cupra gets repaired over the next couple of weeks.

The boot will not lock/unlock with the central locking?? It seems if I press the button once the drivers door unlocks, twice does nothing new, and three times will open the passenger door. but no amount of pressing will activate the boot! I also tried changing the lock position on the boot lock but that didn't do anything either?

Any ideas? I don't have user manual!

Cheers Jim

cheers I'll give it a go but I reckon the boot might be screwed coz it won't lock either!! strange seeing as the car's only done 1000 miles lol

I had this on my Ibiza - the mechanism has failed - if you stick your ear next to the lock you'll hear the motor is actually operating but it won't engage. The stealers put a stronger spring on mine and that solved it - although I then lost the soft handle return :(

Borrowed this from a Leon thread - but the mechanisms the same.

Basically the handle mech is the red circled bit - if the spring's not working properly, this sticks in midair meaning the lock mech can't engage (or disengage).

You're right mate, I can hear the motor. Therefore the boot lock is fudged. I'd be pissed off if it was my brand new car!

Had the exact same prob on mine at 6k miles. Took it back to dealer and they filed part of mechanism but forgot to reprogramme it so boot wouldnt lock at all! Fixed now though.

Not necessarily so....if you put the key in the boot lock and turn it to a different position ( I can't remember which way) this stops the boot unlocking off the keyfob etc. It says this in the owners manual.
