I've just been driving about and there is a supercharged sound coming from underneath the car. A strange whirring noise.
Also, when I'm in neutral, it clonks and crunches as if I've tried to change gear without engaging the clutch. Feels like it's on its way out what ever it is :(
Please help!
Also, how much would what ever it is be???

When I depress the clutch. The sound goes away completely and the car sounds lovely and normal again.
Thanks for your reply.

Really? So it's normal for it to clunk and crunch if release bearing is going?
Also, it crunches into gear.

HHHMMMMmm

Not too sure TBH, usually it would be the symtoms of a release bearing but perhaps not with the gear crunching aswell. It going to be a GB and clutch off job anyway.

Apparently its a gearbox.. :(
Having to pay for a gearbox and new clutch as it 'sounds' like (To the mechanic) the gearbox oil has leaked onto the clutch.
£1025...

Not happy :(
