Help - Turbo Control Unit Fault

Good morning.

I recently purchased from BCA car auction (online) a very clean 2011 Ibiza 1.2 tdi Copa for my daughter, she is 17 in September and it is the zero road tax model. The car was classiifed as a grade 2 (decent condition) on their listing but with an amber engine warning light. I know many cars seem to have warning lights so this didn't really put me off.

The car has covered 70,000 miles. there are actually 3 lights on the dash, DPF, Engine management and the glow plug symbol. The car felt very flat and underpowered when driving back, I appreciate it is only 70 hp but clearly the car was down on power, otherwise the engne sounds good mechanically, it was a little low on oil. I waited a few weeks to get the car to a mechanic and he has reported back that there is a turbo control unit fault. I assume he has just a basic fault reader. He mentioned he has come across this before and on swapping the turbo, he did not solve the problem. He is relucatant to take this further, as he doesn't want me wating money. He is a good guy with a VW background. There is a good independant VW specialist close to me, but I can't get the car in for a couple of weeks (Midland VW Cannock).

Just wondered if anyone has expeicence of this and am I likely to expect big bills or could this be something simple (wishful thinking) that I might be able to sort myself.

The car is a 3 cylinder CR tdi Ecomotive SE Copa.

Many thanks and best wishes, Sean
