Just for my pennies worth...

You should always take the negative off first (at least on a negative earth car) to prevent you from shorting out the battery by accidentally letting your spanner touch the engine\body work while slackening the positive terminal. When re-fitting it's obviously the reverse so fit the positive first.
What he said and for that reason :)

if youre removing the battery yea, if not you dont need to touch the +ive.

Sorry if I was misleading, my comment was about cars and batteries in general, as you say no need to touch + for a reset.

Right one last question. The -ve cable is currently off and I am waiting for 30 mins. How will I no if the reset has been successful??? and is there anything i need to do once the cable is reconnected. Do i just start car as usual?

u won't know it is successful! might feel faster, may not! but you have reset it if left for 30mins,

just drive it hard for a day after reset!

could be a long list of things if car is serouisly down on power, could be the fuel, could be dogdy MAF, could be a boost leak.

Could be you are getting use to the power and if started to feel slow!

p.s read back on thread your answer to your last question is there ;)

Right its all done. Took it out for a spin and it didnt seem any different. Will see how it goes in the next few days. I reckon i am used to the power now but I still love it.

I reckon its the weather, they say anything above 12 degrees can make a diesel feel low on power!

Do you drive normally with AC on? Or if you have Climate, with ECON disabled?

Switch the AC off or enable ECON, you'll feel a sure difference.

I know it's best to do a ECU reset when the engine is cold etc.

However, how long would one have to wait to do a ECU reset after the motor has been used?

anro you can disconnect it at any time really, leaving it disconnected for 30 mins will be virtually cool anyway as long as you havent been hammering it.
