Hi there, just set up my vagcom, i think iv got a missfire in the engine, did a scan of the engine with out the engine switched on, is it ok for me to switch the engine on and do the same scan? a friend has advised me not to because it will wipe my ECU, n that i dont fancy doin.

Any help would be great.

It won't wipe your ECU. But there's no point. You need to scan with the ignition on, but engine not running.
