Hi all

2 months ago I bought a 2016 Seat Leon Cupra 290 ST with 26K in the clock.

On Saturday I decided tune my car to a Stage 1 Remap. Figures...
Stock: 290 bhp / 350 nm
Tuned: 365 bhp/ 470 nm

A big jump in power.

After the map and after testing the new power output on the road, with the technician, you could smell the clutch burning and it was slipping when putting down the power. Especially from 5th to 6th. I dont recall it slipping before but it could have been and I've not noticed.

I immediately took this to a mechanic for inspection. Both the clutch and flywheel were burnt. This seemed strange on such a new car. Im not sure if the damage was done prior or has the remap forced/compounded the problem?

I've upgraded the clutch and flywheel but I'm scared this may happen again.

What else can I upgrade on the car to handle the power?

All comments welcome, thanks

The manual Cupras have clutches made out of chocolate. Most fail on stock power after a while. So a remap will certainly speed up the process of slipping and sometimes it’ll take your flywheel out too.

If you’ve got a new clutch in now, make sure it’s rated to support the power and torque you’re putting out.

And follow the bedding process of the clutch manufacturer.

Thanks

The mechanic said they've fitted a luk and luk slave cylinder clutch and Sachs flywheel.

I can't find them online to understand how long I should take it easy for??

You mean Sachs clutch plate and luk flywheel? When I had my Helix, I just took it easy for the first 500 miles (of city driving). Then not so hard for another 500 miles. I still had a couple of times using reverse that it juddered a bit, but that went away after another 300-400 miles.
