Hi everyone, I'm Rich from worcester. Not a Leon owner yet but viewing one tomorrow. Just wonderd if you guys could share some of your knowledge on whether this is a good deal.

Seat Leon 2.0 16V TDI SPORT 5DR DSG 2006
55,000 miles
£5995

He's just dropped the price by £500, its in beautiful condition inside and out and wanted the 2.0 over the 1.9. Ive read over the what to look for in tests drives etc but any advice specific to this model and the DSG gearbox would be great. Does that price and spec sound like a fair deal?

I used to be in car sales, and for a diesel at that price I would snap his hand off, try and get another £500 off, but I would defo go for that! Usually cars with that kind of mileage are around 1500 more (average) for instance, the old shape Astra (gsi shape) with 70,000, box standard spec, no alloys or even a/c .... £4500 is the trade price for one of these, absolute rip off, so in my opinion, I think you would be buying yourself a bargain, but always try and haggle the price down ;)

Thanks for the reply. It drove really well. I didnt manage to get anymore off cause apparently there was a lot of interested people, but i haggled for the £500 off in the first place cause it was a 2 hour drive to view so did that over the phone.I did get £500 part ex aswell with my crappy VW Polo, its worth that though.

Only little thing was a small dent in the rear quarter panel, but no damage to paint work so gunna get that pulled out. Getting it Saturday cant wait! Will post some pics. The only thing i dont like 100% is the colour, bog standard silver. Looks nice but wasnt my first choice, but 2.0 DSG's are hard to find!

Sounds like you did well then mate!
When you get there to pick it up, just say, so I've only got to pay you £££££ and knock another £100 off, and say "I have had to make two trips, plus I need to put fuel in etc" worth a shot ;-) lol.... As the old saying goes, if you don't ask you don't get!

And you're right they are quite rare, spesh with such low mileage!

If I were you, I would consider getting the car wrapped! It's cheaper than getting it resprayed, plus you dong have to declare it to your insurance, or the dvla, as it's not permanent, only downside ..... It's about £1500 plus! Or just wrap the bonnet, and roof to brake up the colour, and that would probably set you back £400 for both, or £150/200 per panel (I.e. Bonnet/roof/boot etc) hope this helps. Look forward to seeing the pics, and good luck for Saturday ;-)

Haha dont think I can be that cheeky, and he knows I'm not gunna travel all that way to leave with nothing haha. Got a few pics but not made enough posts yet so will up them when I have.

I'm actually liking the grey now, will eventually go with gunmetal or black allows and i was considering wrapping the roof anyway. Will see. Im a family man so tryin to keep it subtle haha.

I'm sure if it were worth £1500 more, he would have tried to get more, but for a private sale to me £5500 is bang on, he's not dropped £500 for no reason. .

I was explaining that on average, cars with this kind of mileage are usually up for £1500 more (from s garage) if it's a non franchised dealer, they don't always put such a big mark up on cars, either way, I think rich has bought a bargain

Looks great mate, and the ok'd fling is pretty sweet too ;-) ... I had a Renault 5 GT turbo :) .... But to inreliable, constantly had wiring faults :-(

I would definitely get the roof wrapped ;-) would brake the silver up, and the alloys, go black, so you've got a higher contrast.... Just my opinion, I'll upload some pics of my car too, so you can see what you think?

Not sure on the wrap yet. I like OEM looks but saying that the new Leon has contrasting roof colour I believe. Not going to heavily mod it, I'm a family man at the end of the day.:thumbd:

Thinking nice subtle mods to begin with, lowering, caliper painting etc. Gunna get on photoshop later though see what it looks like with dark wheels and wrapped roof! Put soime pics of yours up if you like.
