Hid kit

Does the sheild make the beam flat on the ones from there? as I got some cheap ones from ebay and it must be about 20 degrees slanted up to the left both sides, which I know it should a bit for signs but seems a lot?
Looking at other peoples there is usually a clear flat bit then the flick up for signs as below:
Mine follows the red line and is just slanted. Both bulbs are the same and I can level them with the adjuster on the headlight. Although I can't work out what the other adjuster does.
I've taken them out save hassle for MOT on friday else I could get a picture, I might get some from that site if you rate them as for just bulbs it's less than 20 quid

2011 VOSA changes to MOT coming in to force soon!
HID lights – Specifically those aftermarket kits that give the very bright headlight beams. Any cars found with these kits will be an automatic MOT failure. Testers are able to easily spot the difference between HID kits, and manufacturer fitted Xenon’s. Easy to spot as Xenon cars have suspension level sensors, in car beam adjuster, and usually headlight washers.
Chipped ECU’s - Unsure of just how/if this one will realistically be enforced, but any cars with chipped ECU’s will in theory be an MOT failure. I can only assume VOSA have found an easy way of checking ECU software through the cars OBD port (diagnostic plug).
Wiring harness – The general condition of he wiring harness will be checked to make sure there is no rubbing or chaffing, and that the harnesses are in generally good condition. If unsecure, or damaged again MOT failure.
Airbag warning lights - If any warning lights are illuminated, it will again be an MOT failure.

I agree but people who are not fitting the hids correctly are the ones letting the rest down, as I have seen some with the beam scattered everywhere.
It's a joke...
How can they fail a car in an MOT for having bright lights? It's more safe than dull, low intensity bulbs!
I won't be taking mine off for an MOT.
Also, the airbag light may be due to a connector problem or a wiring fault underneath the steering rack (on Ibiza's).
Seems a bit brutal nowadays.

The problem with the HID kits are that they blind oncoming drivers, making it unsafe for them to drive, hence the problem. The factory fitted xenon bulbs are much much better even tho they are very bright still.
Ive had a HID kit fitted on my car ages ago (from a forum member on here, wasnt cheap either!) , as good as I could see, I did have a few complaints regarding the brightness from oncoming drivers - it wasnt the way they were fitted as the bulbs can only fit one way, its the beam pattern, most are scattered causing problems for oncoming drivers.

Driving in the country without street lighting and getting blinded by poorly set up HID's gets me every time. I can't say they make for safer driving coz they don't...dazzling oncoming cars isn't good is it.
Fuzzy. What kit and setup have you got with your HIDs? and where dif you get them from. Working permant nights its getting darker and darker on a morning and night soon and the standard lights are shocking .
