i think, dont quote me, that little cover and shelf is only there on a tdi.... from looking at your pics i dont think its there... but u still mite be able to put it down there somewher, would just still be seen

Yep no shelf there on my V5.

HID's still working fine, one thing to note though and I don't know if this is the same with all kits, but the warning buzzer for leaving your lights on seems to not work after fitting the kit. Now you need the ignition on anyway to get the HID's on dipped beam, but there is a chance you could leave the sidelights on and not notice.

could be a faulty door lock, open the doors and check if any of the lights at the bottom of the doors dont work.

Yep have noticed my drivers door light intermittently does not light. If I pull the door nearly shut then open it again it comes on so could be linked.
