Offtopic: Mind sharing which company insures you on that S40 (if it's your policy that is)? I'm considering buying an old E36, with insurance being the only issue.
Basically put low annaul miles as possible, glorify you job, claim you keep it on a drive/in a garage, high-ish excess (not ideal,I know - im Fully comp), try and do a driving course and if you live in an class A postcode like me you shouldn't have too much trouble.
Also, I added a few extras, such as legal and breakdown, which, somehow, baught my policy down...
Other insurance companies were giving me £500 more than NU.
Mine (130) has 139.7K and clocking up 106miles/day so far without issue. Its overdue a cambelt (first one did 70k) so that'll happen any time soon.
Suspension will all be tired, but thats easily sorted with an afternoon under the car with new springs/shocks and bushes.
Still not sure thats cheap for a 100 though
edit: OK, not sure which car we're looking at now, as the one I was hasn't got high miles. It was black though! Perhaps the one being investigated by the OP was a 130.
