define looking after a car.. what sort of things do you do noramlly do to make a car last this long, is it just luck or are there things you can do to help it live longer.
i just bought a run around shed, a mk3 golf derv with 160K on the clock, already covered 2 k mile in it and i drives faultlessly. theres a few thigns up with the eletronics.. but nothing i cant fix.
part of me wants to drive the bolts out of it.. as its only a £500 shed.. but its got this far would be a shame to kill it!
i think some of it's just luck of the draw but most of the high milers we see are used for airport runs and are just regualy serviced and well maintained
they spend there life on the motorway doing 70mph maximum so don't get driven hard, that being said tho i know of cars that have had the a$$ ragged out of them since day one and still managed over 200k
I just saw a post by CupraTgirl and thought yay, she's back. Then I looked at the date and realised this thread is about a year old. Whatever did happen to Alex??
On topic: 300,000k !!!!! Damn, thats about touch under 600miles per week........every week.........for the past 10 years.
mines on 127k, but shes a fairly easyish going diesel and for the past 30k it has only been used going to and from work with the family mainly because shes about to pop at 70mph so for long hauls other cars are sourced, soon to be fixed X-D
