I had my car at a local bodyshop a couple of months ago to sort out a small scratch on the back hatch that had begun to attract rust, and while they were at it, they looked at a small scrape on the bottom of my passenger door which had the same problem. The job they did seemed okay, although I did have to return to them due to some rough overspray residue on the boot and bumper which they buffed off with a little machine polish and a lot of elbow grease.

At the time I didn't really notice a problem with the job they did on the door (it was only a tiny spot anyway), however since the sun has appeared over the past few days, and since I washed the car at the weekend, I have noticed both the front and back passenger doors *covered* in what I can only assume is the remnants of a TERRIBLE machine polish job - streaks of horizontal buff marks all over both doors which look to be where the top and bottom of a polish pad would lie. Of course these are completely invisible in non-direct sunlight but in the direct blazing sun the car looks like a zebra!!!

Any suggestions how I could correct these? I've tried giving it a good polish and it seems to have improved a *little* but they're still very noticeable. Do I have to resort to a full correction? :(

Hmm - then again if I'm going to fork out for a machining I may as well go the extra mile and get a full correction or I'd only regret it...

But then I'd have to get my little door parking dings done too (swines opening their doors on me in the car park...)

Gah.
