I have a problem that at certian RPM (cruising at 70 on the motorway) my exhaust drones quite a bit. i recently found the back box and piping at a scrappy (from a wrecked cupra) it is a maniflow exhaust system.

i must admit it sounds brilliant when booting it or just normal driving, but unfortunatly hit cruisng revs on the motorway and it drones. is there anyway i can reduce this droning ??

i have thought of dynamat but unsure if this would stop the drone or not.
are there anyother things i could possible do ?

thanks

Adam

Dynamat would help keep the road noise out, but wouldnt stop the drone. Dont waste money with dynatmat either, get some garden shed roofing felt, (not the one with little stone bits) and use that instead of dynamat.

Its about £12 for 1x8 metres, and does the same job.

would taking apart the exhaust joint and lengthening the exhaust section reduce drone as you are increasing the length of the tube, therefore moving the standing wave to another rpm.. or would that be so insignificant it would not make a difference ?

put standard one back on

the standard 1.4 exhaust does not really give any growl under WOT.

i know its a 1.4 and its nothing sporty. thats why i like this exhaust. unless you boot it, it more or less sounds stock with a little bit more 'bite' to it.

i hate the exhausts you see on 1 litre micra's or other small cc cars that have a HUGE opening at the back that sounds like a wet fart as soon as they touch the accelerator.
thats not my style or scene.

i can live with the drone i was just wondering if there was a way to reduce it.

the system is stock apart from the rear section. i am unsure on the dia of the pipe but i know it is stock...

i just think its the back box that has reduced baffling in it, which makes it a bit louder.
