Hi Folks,

Does anyone have details about how to remove the airbox on a 2003 TDi 130bhp?
I have the old problem of the rear washer not working and a puddle of water under the nearside wheel!!

I have tried to get at it from underneath but have failed.

Any advice greatfully received.

Cheers.

I ve got the same problem if you manage to take it off please take some pics and post up. Mines booked in with the dealer for thurs. They recon £30-£40 though :(

oh rite i get yu .. fair enough... my airbox just seems to pop straight off pretty easy ... his may be different

yeahhh mine had two tubes that were attatched to the air box ... i just unplugged them.. and then it was a case of pullin the air box of the top of the engine.... theres some hoses in rediculas places on my car ... i think its daft tbh how its been built

you've got a 1.2 3 cyl (am i right ?) and hes got a 1.9 tdi 130 so the air box isn't on the top of his engine like yours is. just pointing that out to make sure he doesnt just go pulling away:p

haha :) yeah ... theres not really much to the air boxes though ... most of them do generally pull off .. be careful tho.

ON MY CUPRA there is a bolt that needs undoing just behind where the battery sits.

Many thanks for your responses - the link provided by POW is brilliant. I will give this a go at the weekend and let folks know.
Cheers.

Just finished trying to rejoin the rear washer connection in the front engine bay below the airbox. However it seems that the join is in a very inaccessible place between the bulkhead and what I think is a box for the brakes?

Cannot get my fingers down behind this to push the connector in. Does anyone have any experience of this connection and am I just fooling myself into being able to do this! Is it easier for my garage to do it at the service?

Any responses gratefully received.

I think you need to find someone who has reconected this pipe on a TDi as it seems the engine compartment is far more cramped than on a petrol. I looked at mine but admit i wimped out this time as i ve been quite busy and had little time to work on the car.
Also my girlfriend works at the end of the road to the dealers so its easy to swap cars for a day and let them do it. As a guide i got charged £45 to reconnect the pipe both front and back so it well worth having a go yourself. Best of luck :)

just to check before i do mines! can you just disconnect the MAF plug without disconnecting the battery when you remove the airbox.
im never to sure when it comes to unplugging sensors ?

I didn't need to disconnect the MAF. The top of the airbox just swings out of the way if you have disconnected the TIP from the MAF.
