how do you find out what turbo you have fitted?

How do you find out what turbo is fitted on your car as standard, in my case an FR TDI, I was always led to believe that the pd130 engine (pre-facelift) was a KKK unit but that the pd130 engine after facelift was a Garrett VNT unit.

Any help appreciated.

no idea i have not looked on the ibiza but on ever othe rturbo i seen it has been stampped into it

Yes, you can see it when turbo is fitted. Remove the lower engine cover and look up to where the turbo is fitted.

As first sign, the labels of kkk are tinted blue and riveted to the compressor housing, the Garretts have no labels, the model number is stamped into the housing. If it is no OEM turbo from VAG, it may have a label from "honeywell"

And the vacuum actuator looks different, its riveted to the plate which holds it, and the vnt adjusting rod is different design.

I thought it was just the Cupra and maybe the FR PDs that have the Garrett.

1.4l TDIs have Wastegate turbos, GT15, except Audi A2 1.4 TDI with 90hp and some newer Mk with DPF.

In 1.9 l TDI there is only VNT Turbo used above 90hp, partly with kkk and partly with Garrett devices.

In older 1.9l TDIs up to 90hp there are also wastegated gt15 turbos used.

The 131hp diesel was fitted with kkk and garrett turbos, but only on Polo/Ibiza/fabia plattform, on Golf4 plattform there is always garrett turbo used with this engine.
