Took my boost pipe off, the closest one to the turbo to inspect it. It's got so much oil around it so I suspect that's where my boost leak is coming from. The lug doesn't look too great but the scratch marks are what is concerning me the most! The pipe this connects to looks fine.

Would people say it's past repairing? Hoping to secure it properly with heat shrink tomorrow

I think heat shrink will just break...

One of the lugs on the pipe connecting to the bottom of the intercooler on mine broke and you could hear it leaking, but I managed to secure it using PTFE tape (to make it a tighter fit) and cable ties, to stop it from coming apart.

The scratch marks do look odd though...

looks pretty bad, be interesting to hear how you get on with a fix. Ive changed all my pipes with new ones from SFS bar the pipe from the turbo. which I will replace soon and doesn't look anywhere near as bad as yours. this pipe will get pretty hot so im not sure the heatshrink will last??

How much did the replacements cost you if you don't mind me asking?

Good point about the heat, especially when this stuff starts to soften at 80°c.

When you say you used cable ties, do you mean around the c clips so it's kind of wrapped around one side of the c clip then bring it back around the other. Kind of hard to explain!

I just can't quite figure how the scratch marks look like that, it looks like it's been done by the offending lug but obviously that's impossible unless a bit has broken off and rated around inside? Strange

Fwoahhhh they're expensive for what they are?! I've got my eye on an intercooler kit with all the affiliated pipes and fittings for £250 new. Tempted to go for it but it sounds way too cheap to be true let me find the link!

Not really, very well made piece of kit and a superb fit, yours looks like it's been slopping about for a long time. I was looking at various boost pipes first but most are daft money even second hand.

I can't say what they're like for fitment but their stuff seems fairly good quality, I've bought one of their front mounts for the golf. It's got a couple of slightly bent fins from handling so I got it for like £35 but it's nothing, certainly nothing that's going to affect performance.

Also got a length of alloy pipe and a length of silicone on its way so I can make it up as I go.

That TX kit requires a bit of work to fit there was largeish thread aboit it on briskoda forum a while ago.

I put two loosely round the pipes each side of the join, then threaded 4-6 between them (across the join) at equal points round the pipe. Then tightened the ones put that I put on first followed by the ones acrosa the join

Secured it all together and it's now very nice and stiff (hehe) with the heat shrink.

I still have a rushing of air when boosting it, like a hissing sound and I can really hear my turbo spooling way more than a normal car so I'm thinking I have a leak somewhere.

Do the intercoolers leak easily? Didn't seem overly dirty when I cleaned it recently
