hi,
i was just wondering wot people's mileage's are at, ive just bought a 1.4mpi ibiza with 70,000 miles and wondered wot theese cars run up to, im hoping to get a good few years of motoring out of this car, i used to have a golf wich died at 122,000 , are theese engines as long lasting as golf's???

so wots ur mileage at? whose got the highest mileage ibiza??

to be honest mate all engines will last forever with proper maintenance. Expect to have to repair things but they are usually pretty good.

Its like asking how long is a piece of string.

Drive it sensibly and it should last a long time mate

I had a J reg 1.4 xsi 106 which lasted over 165,000 miles with lots of hard driving!

Depends if you do it yourself or take it to a garage.....

Servive at least once a year or 10,000miles

oil changes can be made as many times you want really... but 2 times a year or 5,000 miles suits some people, some other may be different though in servicing....

mines on 125k. services every 7k by SEAT and Awesome GTI, and then when i bought it i've carried that on as well. Regular oil checks and coolant checks.

to make sure mine lasts a bit longer, i dont drive hard until the engine is fully warmed, and always left running for 30 seconds after i've finished. i dont want to risk anything going wrong.
never had a problem with the engine, so far i've only had to fit a new clutch and replace the silicon hoses.
lovely strong engines..
but i can tell you now, you will have to buy a new gearbox on your 1.4. they appear to be very weak!

sweet.

a mate of mine had a honda accord estate with 250k! or word it differently, 1/4 of a million miles!

wiked, i only expected it to last to around 100,000 but it seems they regularly go way over that, im not looking to buy another car for a couple of years so it seems this car was a good buy,

im really pleased with the performance aswell, for a 1.4 it does move when u give it some

so i guess fitting things like induction kits and aftermarket exhausts will not be a healthy option for my engine, my friend tells me that an induction kit is good for my engine because it will give it better airflow but surely seat designed the standard air box to give the perfect airflow for the engine, plus i dont see the point of fitting theese things to a 1.4, i see enuff people in small engine cars with loud exhausts down southend seafront and all over essex for that matter and they look like twat's ,

but maybe some cupra shocks and springs will give it a more comfortable ride and sharper handling?????

it wont give a comfortable ride, it'll be slightly harder.
exhaust and induction kit (placed properly for better cold air) will make it perform better, but not by much.

I had a J reg 1.4 xsi 106 which lasted over 165,000 miles with lots of hard driving!

lucky you mate mine was l reg and only lasted 130,000 then failed its mot with 16 faults and 4 advisories, not to mention it costing me more to run in oil than petrol lol, anyway...

i bought the car in feb with 80,000 miles on the clock and it now has 90,000 i think it will last forever lol, its a derv!
