Went into the Seat dealer on seafield road in edinburgh for an MOT and service. Wasn't originally gonna get a service (as some of you know its gettin locked away in a garage soon), but both together was only £89.

No problems with the service, nothing needed replacing apart from oils etc. Only prob is the rear fogs weren't switching on. therefore would obviously fail the MOT. so they went ahead and did the MOT and the only thing it failed on was the fogs.

This is where i started to get frustrated, 4hrs later they tell me this and that they will have to find the fault. Ok, fair enough, it gets to 3 in the afternoon and i havent heard from them ( the car had been in since 8am). At 3, 7hrs after dropping it off, they say, sorry, still cant find the fault, were gonna have to strip out all of the headlining, you won't have your car back till tomorrow.

I waited till 11 the next morning to call, again having never heard from them. "the car has just been washed its ready to collect."

Bearing in mind that the service and MOT together only cost £89 and it didn't need anything other than getting the rear fogs to work, i was amazed at how much they charged.

£380 [:@]

to top it off, They had left oil prints all over the headlining, broken the courtesy light in the boot ( and left the bits in my subwoofer), and angled the rear washer jet so it shot over the car and landed on the bonnet.

They didn't even do a great job of washing it and left white streaks evrywhere. It was cleaner when i gave it to them.

I wasn't best pleased, and then they made me wait another hour before they would clean the inside of the car. and they wouldn't fix the boot light saying it was broken already. ( It bloody wasn't hanging down by the wire with broken bits of plastic before.)

Considering the only thing wrong was the foglights, this was the worst and most expensive MOT ever. DO NOT GO TO ARNOLD CLARK SEAT DEALERS!!!!!!!!!!! in my opinion.

There were no extra repairs, just the rear fogs weren't turning on, and they had to to pass the MOT. MOT was already slightly overdue so i had to get it done, They just took a bloody long time to find the broken wire.

To be fair, the guy did fix the rear window washer for free whilst he had all the trim off, but for the price, i would have expected them to clean up after themselves at the very least.

I'm gonna check tomorrow about how long it should take, i know there's not much i can do now that i've paid, but mentioning watchdog etc, can sometimes help.

I take it the car is out of warranty ?

£290 extra to get foglights working is criminal, do not let them get away with it !

arnolds have a shocking reputation throughout scotland. Its amazing they do so well. Probably cos their prices for cars are that bit cheaper since they have huge buying power. They will get their money in the end as you have demonstated. The local newspapers also wont say a bad word about them cos they spend a small fortune in advertising... Pages and pages everyday!!! Sucks!

If you want a job there just collect six tokens from crisp bags and voila you are one trained monkey.

I hate them with avengance. I would gladly pay the higher prices at the small dealers.

As recommended the only two dealers in central scotland worth their salt is 1 Livingstones in uddingston(just east of glasgow) and 2. Bickets in Killie.

They quoted me £220 for two Ventus Sport front tyres, including balancing and fitting at my first service of my last car last year. Saying my tyres were showing signs of excessive wear when it had only done 10k and still had another 1.5mm of tread left before it was illegal.
