How much difference will decent tyres make?

As per title really.... When I bought my lcr it had 4 new tyres on but they are all very cheep low end tyres from a make ive never heard of!! Since the rain has started I have next 2 ZERO grip in the wet at both front and back end. How much of a differance will top end tyres make and is it worth the £££'s to change them as the ones on now are pritty much brand new!

I thought that would be the answer....any recomendations?? I like the look of the VREDESTEIN ULTRAC SESSANTA and the TOYO T1R PROXES... anybody have these on there cars?

You don't even need to go top end, just get away from the low end tyres. I'm running with a set and they're awful, I wouldn't even put them on my other half's car for fear of them getting her into trouble.

A decent mid range tyre will do. I probably wouldn't go for all out top end tyres at this time of year, you're about to go through winter (your first in the LCR?) so some decent all weather tyres would be better than soft grippy ones.

toyos are good in the dry but lethal in the wet
vredestein good allround tyre
also uniroyal rainsport good allrounder but like the toyos wear fairly quickly

I've just picked up a set of Pirelli P6000's on a spare set of alloys to see me through the winter, my mate swore by them. I will be trialling them this winter, then maybe getting some more when my current 'Fullrun' tyres wear out. Or fall off, whichever is the quicker.

I'd be tempted by the Vredestein, they seem to pick up a fair few followers and they're not that bad from Camskill or Blackcircles.

I had Toyo's on my Peugeot and they stuck like glue in the dry but wear quite fast. And not the best in the wet as stated.

I have eagle F1's on my LCR at the moment (fitted by previous owner) and they are also a very good tyre, but not sure how fast they will wear in comparison with the toyo's.

I had toyo T-1Rs on the Ibiza Cupra before this and they were cheap and exceptional tyres.
I highly recommend them, I had Pirelli PZeros before and they were dreadful in comparison.

Check out the auto express website. They've just done a test on diffirent tyres makes. Wet testing and dry. I'm running on Maxis myself and not had any bother wet or dry. And yes they make a big diffirence. Had crappy cheapos on a polo I used to have and got fed up facing the wrong way.

I'd possibly disagree with that, there's a good range of tyres around the £75 a corner point. Of course, I'm basing that on my 17 inch wheels, I guess if you have 18's then £100 a corner is probably closer to the mark.

I certainly won't be paying the £50 a corner that I paid for my current tyres!

tyres are the only thing that keep you on the road. dont go cheap.

Verdstien as already mentioned are good, but there are a lot of good makes out there. Im running Avon ZZ3 and they are a good mid range tyre, good price as well paid just over £85 a tyre at the time.

I second that, had them on my bemmer and my mapped LCR and they always performed superbly in the wet! Fantastic tire, can be had for £86 per tire on camskill... Nothing comes close for the money!

just put parada spec 2s on mine, so far so good bit noiser than the perellis but the look of them makes up for that
