Hi, i get a 1.4 75BHP tomorrow and want to do an oil change but only have 2.5 litres of Longlife quantom left and then i have 1 litre of castrol magnatec 5w30 fully synthetic so was wondering if that would be enough and if it is ok to mix two types?

One thing, it might drink oil quite a bit, capacity is about 3.25Litres so allow for 3.5+Litres capacity. Mixing different brands and/or grades is not too good, but I'd reckon that it will gulp up oil so its probably no worse than ---??? One thing though, do you not think that reverting back to fixed service by mileage and time is better, and if so buy fixed service oils which will be cheaper, I tend to use Fuchs Titan, or maybe its name has changed slightly.

Hi, thanks for replying, is there a reason you say it will gulp up the oil? The car has done 105K and only cost me £800 so i am just using as a temporary car. I shall double check the service history to see when it is due.

Its 4.2 liters and make sure you don't mix them together

Thanks, I checked on the TPS website and they said 3.5?

Well, I'm just going by my experience of one 1.4 75PS BBY engine that gets used only on 10+mile journeys, oh and one other on another forum. You could be lucky though, but either way check the oil level regularly until you know that engine does not drink oil - well I'm saying one litre every 1000>1500 miles is "drinking" oil.
