How much to lower suspension and how?

Bushes, rear anti roll bar and new dampers will make that car come alive, it's highly recommended. I'm with Muttley, I daren't drop my car because the sump already catches on some local speed humps.

Thanks guys for all your input :)

Slimy - do you recommend OEM or aftermarket, harder bushes and shocks?

And there was some discussion of using Octavia Sport springs and shocks elsewhere on this forum. Does anyone know how much this option would lower the car and whether the results are good?

I'll definitely sort the bushes and an anti roll bar, but I'm still open to lowering slightly, say 30mm.

I have banged the sump already so a shallower one or a sump guard is a must.

Yeh, new bushes and some gas shocks work wonders, I've dropped mine 40mm but it's not that low because the vario sits so high as standard so still plenty of clearance.:)

I went for Powerflex bushes and Bilstein B4 shock absorbers. I think the ARB is whiteline, but I'm not 100% because I bought that second hand.

The B4 shock absorbers are basically OEM kit, so they are easy to change and just improve things 1000%.

Octavia shocks and springs may help, but if you're buying new you might as well buy ones designed for the Toledo, or if you're buying used then there's no guarantee they'll be any better than what you have. It's not just Octavia gear that's available to you though, virtually any large engined mark 4 Golf based car will do. I think the application list for the Bilsteins include Golf diesel/VR5/VR6, Passat, Octavia, Beetle, the list goes on.
