Hi All

Went to use my windscreen washers the other day and found that left side were not working, so tried a pin to see if the jets were blocked but as soon as i tested it again i could see that water was spraying out under the plastic at the bottom middle of windscreen.

Does anyone have a guide on how to replace the screen wash hose or how to get to it?
Mk1 LC.

Cheers. :)

I believe you will need to remove the wiper arms and rubber strip along the edge of the scuttle.

The plastic will lift up exposing the washer hose.

Hi. Had the same problem as you. Honestly 5 Minute Job. It will all reveal itself once you have removed wipers/scuttle as mentioned previously. Follow pipe and check for damage, may have just popped off jet. Remember to reposition your wipers after!

I thought that could be the case, removing the wipers but wanted to check first as did not want to do extra work. Did you replace the hose or did you just tape it up with electric tape?

If you replaced it can you let me know where you bought it from.

Cheers.

Hi mate,

Fortunately my hose had just popped off in the frost. (Teach me to not use enough screen wash in the water). If the split isn't too bad, you could tape for a quick fix or if the end has split, simply cut off and re-attach with fresh end. Here's a site which could be of some use if you need some bits.

Cheers fella much appreciated :)

no probs. It's a bit of a pain in ass to strip off, just to get to the hose, but it really is a straight forward op once you get to see what's underneath. I was just relieved that my reservoir hadn't cracked which is what i initially thought when water pissed out underneath the car.
Good luck.

Finally found time to have a quick look and the pipe its shot, was easy to find the part where it was leaking from

Its become so brittle that it just snapped off and pipe is crumbling apart

Might see how much the stealer will charge me for a replacement tomorrow as the other pipe off ebay was showing as not compatible with LC.

Could do but would rather get like for like as don't want to start pissing about with other connectors and zip ties if i can help it. Will try local VW garage tomorrow. Tps no longer stock parts for mk1 leon?

Can't you just use some silicon pipe or go to a local aquatic shop for hose.

:wtf: £38 from VW for hose and connectors, second thoughts think i will do a DIY job.

My blue pipe was also very brittle and eventually parts of the hose cracked.

All I did was cut the origional pipe from about a cm from where the pipe connects to the black rubber plug and went to the local car parts shop, bought a new hose (its just a flexible hard wearing tube) and then slipped it over the origional pipe where I cut it from.

The diameter of the new pipe was big enough so it slipped perfectly over the origional hose but maintained as a snug fit.

Hope this helps.

Finally managed to find some time to fix it :)

VW quote for parts =£38, my DIY job using parts off ebay £2 :D

What i did in the end was to use the ends of the original pipe and then replaced the middle section of the pipe that was cracked with tubing that was next size diameter up. So ordered Inside Diameter: 5mm ID x 7mm OD tubing which allowed it to slip over the original pipe 5mm pipe ends, then just zip tied and job done
