I did the CD test on some towels - the Pakshak waffle drying towel, MF towels and the meguiars ultimate wash mitt, supreme shine MF and glass duo-fibre towels all did NOT put any scratches on the CD. The Meguiars Quik detailer MF pad did not leave any marks either.

The two Meguiars waffle drying towels I tried DID leave marks on the CD, so I can't use these on my paintwork, these are the culprits, I don't think it was the Ultra Plush Wash Mitt, but I've thrown it in the bin already - too late!

How are they differnt to the megs ones? are they like a mirco fibre?

Also whats the best way to clean all this gear? I have been using elbow grease hot water and fairy liquid to make sure theres no grit in any of it

im not sure how they are different, they should be similar, not sure why robdon had problems with his, i havent heard of it before ??.
i just wash mine with normal washing liquid (not powder), but never use fabric softner

One of them is yes, the other is an older Megs waffle drying towel.

ahh, the old towels are crap, but the new ones are ok, god knows what wrong with that one

No probs, I've tried washing them using a different liquid and program, we'll see if that helps, I've ordered some Pinnacle MF Rejuvinator too, hopefully that will soften them up again. I may have patched things up with Ranney at Pakshak too.

ok, how did things get sorted with ranney, i musy say what you told me about himput me off, even though he has been ok with me, let me know if the towel gets any better, im going to try some of the others on the cd test

What are your opinions on the tool in the below link. I bought one to try on my Dads old car as the paint was a mess and it cost him £800. It was only £16 for the tool so no big loss if it was crap.

I also bought 2 Megs finishing pads. Did a coat of Poorboys pure polish and one of EX-Sealant. It seemed to work well and removed some minor scratches. It also really enhavnced the shine and made the job alot easier.

I have ordered a megs polishing pad to try with some ScratchX to see if it will lift the deeper scratches.

The machine is variable between 4000 and 11000 RPM. I think the low speed is equal to the PC's speed 4? As the PC is 2500-6000 RPM?
