HPFP Cam follower

Im looking at a Cupra from a Dealership on Saturday. I have already negotiated a cambelt and water pump change as well as a full service with the dealer if I decide to buy it.
I have been reading about the HPFP Cam follower issue on the 2.0TFSI engines. Is there a TSB or recall for this from Seat??? I was going to ask for the follower to be replaced as well, just wondered if this was a documented issue that Seat know about just in case they don't know what im on about lol

I don't believe a recall was ever issued, I think it's one of those things they'll either know or they won't, just tell them that you'd like it replacing for peace of mind as you've done your research and you are aware it's a potential problem area if unchecked, it's a £25 part and 10 minute job so I'm sure they wouldn't want to lose a sale for the sake of it.

Just changed mine at 50k and not much wear. Think they charge about £90 to do the job. Personally I wouldn't worry about it too much. But if you can get them to do it!

Sorry to hijack/ask, but it may be useful for others reading this..is there a guide to changing these yourself, what to do etc?
Mines just turned 60,000 & I'd like to at least check it's ok that's all! Cheers guys

There is a guide floating around the forum i think, i found one through google.

Changed mine at 47k and the hardened coating had gone in the centre but no signs of it wearing through any time soon so this one should be good for a few years.

Cool cheers I know the video is a 2.0 TSi as in the Golf GTi's.. So is this a common problem on them as well? (As my mate has just bought an 05 GTi and I'll tell him that's all)

Changed mine last weekend at ~17k, second time it has been changed. ~10k at stg 2+ and only around a third of the coating was gone, no scoring or any damage to the cam or the underlying surface of the follower.

If it's worn through the black coating change it.

Im pretty handy with a spanner, just being lazy lol. I will probably do it myself and ebe safe in the knowledge that its been done.

Im from the north east. Its the first Cupra or Seat Ive owed. I'm an old school Ford RS type lol.
My last toy was a 385bhp RWD Sierra Cosworth. Im back down to one car now and wanted something quick that I could use every day. Was looking at Golf GTI, but Leon looked better value for money

Haha cool, it takes 30 minutes tops - there is a good guide on the Skoda forum.

Nice, my last car was a Racing Puma. Only 160 bhp but would go round corners faster than anything else on the road

It was the only car I have ever had that truly scared the sh@te out of me every time you drove it. just shy of 400 horses, rear wheel drive, no traction control etc. it was Evil
