with there been so many faults at once, what do you think the chances of all these sensors going bad at the same time.

Like you say, i'd definitely suspect a earth, or if not then a main supply relay with that big list.

Hows the battery? Being as the faults are intermittent id say the chances are its one common fault. Have you tried clearing the faults, driving it and then plugging in again?

yep they all still come back, today I installed a new ( or nearly new ) speedo senser, and my speedo guage still isn't working

batt had a very good float voltage of around 12.9v

been to a local VW expert and he said the fact so many sensors are playing up at once would suggest wiring, he said go for the cheapest option of a new loom from ebay first

does anybody know if the cupra and cupra r shar the same engine loom? I can get a loom from a cupra from 2 locations local to me.

there is some were, but I should imagen itll be an under bonnet earth, not checked but is there any located near the ecu? the 2 under the bat tray have been brushed up with a wire wheel on the drill and then linked together with 8 guage cable , tested the voltage and its exactly the same now as it shows when been tested directly across the bat terminals

looking at the loom in the engine bay, even though the lambda sensor is included in the list of faults, that cable doesn't run downt he same loom as the rest of the sensors. it joins up right at the top of the engine on the same loom as the lights ect.

tomorrow I will check to see if my ecu is wet and see if any of the connections are rusty awell. ill also test the speedo cable from the ecu to the speedo sensor to see if there is any breaks, also check is there is any short from ground to live.

any body have a ecu pin layout at all? cheers

p.s - if you have a cluster layout aswell that's great aswell :)

so I checked the ecu and as I pulled the engine loom out 2 pins from the ecu plug came away with the engine loom plug. I removed the ecu and took it inside and hit it with a hair dryer, I pulled the 2 pins out slightly so that when the plug got pushed back into the ecu they touched. but still nothing!

so I decided to take to some sensors with a meter, and im going to just pass this one over to an auto electrican lol

green / yellow on the MAF is a live, but if I test it against the live from the batt I get a reading of 12.x volt!
when the cars started I get a reading between the same cable of around 0.x volt

i also tested the earth against the fuses inside the car and a couple of them had 0 power weather the car was running or not

EDIT

after more testing of unplugging sensors I now seem to have less fault codes, I haven't done anything to any wiring but I seem to of removed some faults some how?

2 I can ignore, 1 is because the n249 is unplugged / bypassed and the second is the battery has been removed from the car

Hi mate, it's built into the hazard warning light switch. You will have to replace the complete unit if faulty. Think there are different part numbers depending if you have a towbar or not. Probably best to get the exact part number off of the old one.

Hi there.

I changed my MK1 diesel hazard light button (relay built-in) a couple years ago. I still have the OEM box and faulty one and the number is 1M0941509(B). Mind this is a European version.

Ah so glad I didn't start taking the poor car apart in the rain this morning to get behind the fuse box! Thank you Mty saved me a lot of work there.
