Its because those are max figures and they wont happen exactly at the same RPM on each car. I didn;t kow a 335d had the exact same power. Learn something new every day.
Basically HP = (torquexrpm)/5252
So by altering RPM in that equation, its easy to see how different torque figures can produce the same power figures, or different power figures could equate to the same torque figure.
I also believe that my car is mapped to produce less power than could ultimately be produced, but I don;t think torque was held back. I'm not 100% sure on this. I know for definite thats not the max power it could have had, but something tells me that was around max torque.
Mine was mapped similar on my hybrid, I wanted reliability and drivability and specified no figures... they gave me it back with 214 bhp and 402lbs of torque which so far fulfills the brief perfectly. I'm not going too mad as its my daily, my toy car will be a petrol v8 lol
