hello guys

i have a 1.8t AUQ, 180 hp engine
i wanna go 350+ hp which requires me to rebuild the engine
i was wondering which is better turbo to go with, Hyprid k04 or GT2871r

and if anyone knows what should be changed in the engine to handle this much power, that would helpful

thanks

thanks Ivo98

of what i heared and understood theat GT2871r is better on higher rpm unlike the Hyprid k04 which gives boost on lower rpm and gives better drivability over the GT

i'm really confused about both but my aim is 350-400 hp which i think the k04 won't handle it

am i on the right track or i have some wrong info ???

:)

K04 EGTs are ridicolous.
Not good for high boost and high power.

not neccesarily so, we have done it, but if the ops after 350+bhp, the gt2871 is going to deliver that easier than a hybrid k04 would, which would need a host of accompanying supporting mods

Our lupo k04 hybrid is running 372bhp/320lbft with egt's @ turbo sub 900'c (less than stage2 k04s do)

Not easily replicated tho.

The larger frame unit GT2871 is more suited to your 350-400bhp goal

i am not a fan of generic maps and bigger turbos..
they will not be dialed into your hardware are there are so many variables.

custom mapping is the ideal, if its available by someone experienced in me7.5 ecu mapping and bigger turbo, injectors, maf etc etc

the thing is i'm not really an expert in upgrading
i have been reading for a while now and to be honost i really got confused
i wanna go for it but still i'm lost

if i just find someone to tell me exactly what to do, like really everything to get th 400 hp out of this car, that would be really great

i tried contacting many but all seems to give various options which made me think alot

i'm reading for the mean while hope to find the right choice and go for it

cheers mate

im no expert but if you choose the GT2871R you could aswel just get the GT3071R as the GT2871R spools allmost the same but the GT3071R have more headroom?
all time i have read on forums over the years and some one choose the GT2871R for a 1,8 20VT engine i read the turbo gets on very late = same spool as GT3071R.
The GT2860RS is nice size for this engine but most people have to push it to go 340+ (i have seen almost 400bhp on this turbo)

why not look at EFR/GTX/HTA or similar

hi Allan

well, the thing is i want to use the car daily and most suggested with such power and on daily use, the hyprid K04 or the GT2871r are the best for such application

the thing is that k04 kicks in sooner than the gt2871 but won't be able to deliver the powr i need so for me the best choice so far is the GT2871r unless if someone tried one of the turbo set up with this power output suggestes something better

i think GT2871r is the one for me

appreciated mate

cheers

at what RPM do you want power = Boost?

gt2871r boost "late" (from 3500-4000).

i would look at the gt2860rs, better spool and better allround turbo for the street on a 1,8t

i think the boost can be managed at which RPM to start if im not mistaken

for the GT2860rs, the power range is from 250-360 unlike the GT2871 280-475
i'm seeking the 400 hp which the GT2860rs won't deliver it

i want the boost to start from 2500-3000 RPM

do u have any option would do the required ??

yes and no

you cannot make a mechanically laggy setup spool at will...
forget the 400bhp figures from 2871, dream land

2500-3000 is better than the k04 is now ffs

your expectations of power vs spool are wildly at odds with each other

EFR twin scroll units have reputedly good spool and power but I have not seen one in the flesh to comment first hand (yet)
