i recently changed the cabin filter on my car and i think it sounds a bit noisier. doing read ups online, this could be from debris being left in or even the filter being in the wrong way?

as far as i know, the filter is in the correct way, but im going to be reomving it anyway to have another check on this, so which way should the arrows on the filter point? i think the fan is on the passenger side, so the arrows should face the steering wheel right?

secondly, if there is debris in there, whats the best way to get it out? when i removed the filter, so many leaves fell out, and therefore im thinking about whether i should remove the filter and turn the fans on or remove filter and get a hoover up there?

Filter seems to be the right way round, though I'd doubt if that would make much difference to any noises.

Yes run the fan with the filter cover off and the filter out, also maybe examine the area where the air comes into the inlet and remove all debris up there as it can cause all sorts of problems if it traps water.

is running the fan without filter the best way to clean any debris out, or is there a better way? im not particularly comfortable taking apart the panels as its quite a finicky area

Well for any leaves/debris trapped in the upper area, you will need to shine a light in and make sure that it is clear, doing nothing is not a good plan.
