Hi again guys,

Just a quick one, i just got a 2001 ibiza cupra its on 43,000 miles and only has a re-map what other performace mods can i do to gain more torque and bhp??

Hi there, firstly before you get slated buy others, try using the search button, it will give you a wealth of information on past threads on topics like these.

It all depends on your budget for starters. Most people go for a turbo swap from a ko3(standard cupra turbo) to a ko3s turbo, with supporting mods like a full turbo back exhaust, front mount intercooler and other bits and bobs you'll see about 220-240 bhp. If you have more money you can go for a ko3hybrid swap, lots of threads on that so i wont bore you with the details. Spend more and you can go for something like a garrett gt28 turbo, classified as a BT(big turbo application), this will require alot more work and money.

So its all down to your money and time, with these two things you can get just about any power you want from your car.

MNore than likely no. different arguments with standard internals but i wouldn't go much above the 300bhp mark.

Ok so say i was to do the conversion i should do the internals. whats the biggest i could do without doing this.

They hybrid k03x option is the most powerful without doing internals, 280 to 300bhp

You go BT and your looking at 350+ region wich will need internals done.

My Full Big Turbo application 320-330bhp Including Full engine Internals and rebuild has cost me £2,865 and all being new bar the turbo which i got for a steal of a price...

That Price Fully Includes tools and Bits Ive had to Purchase too...BUT ive done the Labour side of things my self...Which is prober Novice stuff if you can use your brain & Spanner...

Don't Look at the Garrett as there is other Options for BT such as IHI and the TD Series too...

But ''Cost & Time'' Is the main issue IRRC if you don't have either then a k03s Or k03 Hybrid with all the correct trimming would be a good shout..

But with me havin done a k03 stage 1 & k03s Stage 2 & Gt2x then a Gt2x hybrid then I finally Desided on Big turbo... Id go straight for a Big turbo application such as the IHI series due to it being Lovely too spool and punch per pound is awsome...

As per the remers of the internals the States is the best place to collect things as the Pound is much stronger than the dollar...which me and Philw were chatting about earlier the rods seem to be fine at the 300-330bhp area but its the boost and low down torque that Eats them...Such as holding 1.55bar at the limiter is in rod bending terriory and with rods being £271 from the states its a good shout....

Even on my K03S hybrid I've spent well over 10k now - but that's doing EVERYTHING (big brakes, LSD, full handling setup etc) using the best parts available.

There are plenty of options all depending on budget and what power you want (and realistically will ever use). As above, depending on how handy you are with a spanner will determine a lot of the overall cost.

Same turbo but different internals, so really it's a waste to hybrid the ko3s. Buy my cheap ko3 and hybrid that
