Hi,

I have been speaking to my local dealer about upgrading my Ibiza sport to a new FR. Things were going well until they gave me a price on mine...

Its a July 2009 1.6 DSG Sport in Black Magic, with 17" alloys, with ESP, Cruise, ipod, bluetooth, folding mirrors, rain wipers and auto mirror. It has 12,000 miles on it and is in as new condition. Cost new £14,500........... I was offered £7000!!! Now thats depreciation for you. I was also offered £7000 against a £20,000 Toyota Auris hybrid too, so the value appears to be real :(

Looks I will be keeping what is actually a really nice car

Ian

I have just searched your car on auto trader, you can buy the same model as yours same age with less miles for £8500, see the link below.

Auto Trader link

That is why they are only prepared to give you £7000, their mark up is normally about £1500

It's not so much 'back to Audi' - just that the car has an unpopular engine, with poor output & relatively high emissions)... a 'funny' gearbox as well as the unvaluable extra's

I'd say - poorly chosen & specced - hence the trade in. (Sorry)

:(

On the positive it's a proven reliable engine not relying on new fairly unproven technology. I still feel happier with a larger capacity engine being run lightly than a smaller one being flogged to death for power. At the time it was the only DSG Ibiza I believe

Private sale, I'm sure that somebody would desire your car. Dealers are the devil! I went I'n last week and never bought a 15000 Leon fr for the shear reason that they wouldn't give me an extra 500 quid. The hilarious thing was he ended up giving me an extra 500 quid but the monthly payments remained the same, " I'm not here to sell money I'm here to sell cars" bullshit.

Rant over

+1 here for Pistonheads. I tried to sell my old Yaris T-Sport (amazing car, going to buy another one day and stick a super-charger in it) on ebay and autotrader for a month and I only got stupid offers or idiots. Sold it after a week on PistonHeads because I had a couple of sensible offers from guys that knew what they wanted.

I Have decided to keep the car. It's low mileage and has every piece of kit I could want on it. It seems silly to give someone else a perfect car and have lost 7.5K after 18 months for the privilege. I only average 9000 miles a year too.
I have enquired about extending the warranty and through Seat it would be £324 a year for the full warranty. That sounds perfect to me! It would make sense to keep the car for 4/5 years

Oh and I have managed to loose my remote key today too :(. I have ordered 2 replacements (I dont like the spare key as it does not even open the boot!) for £280 so it pushes me even further into keeping the car.

Just to put the boot in... I had my brand new Ibiza SC 1.6 TDi for 10 months at £265 a month (£3180) repaid. The car was £13,100 with most of the options factory fitted.

Unfortunately I got bored with it, so Willoughby Garages in Nottingham paid off the £10,500 of outstanding finance for me and put me in a new TDi FR with 0 deposit for £330 a month. Can't complain :) - well I can actually, I thought it'd have heated seats being as the seats were leather and that's what the brochure/salesman said, but it could of been worse. And if I want to feel like I've pissed myself on long journeys, I could always do it the authentic way.

seems a good deal but is there a final repayment or is it over like 5 years ?
