As markmeus said, how worn in is the engine? With more use on it will become more loose and give better MPG.

My 1.4 Sport started at 38MPG now I can get 50MPG on a motorway journey

My Dads Audi CR is brand new and his first run got 67.9mpg. He has already seen 70 once but was driving conserved. It seems to vary engine to engine.

I can get 60-70mpg out of it at a cruise controlled 50mph, 50-55mpg @60mph, 40-45@70mph, and 35-40 above that.
after 11k miles.

My car 1.6 tdi gets between 55 and 65 on average. however the other day i managed 95 mpg average on a motorway/60mph journey over 20 miles. I was shocked! Must have been some real slow tunes on the stereo!

Just filled up today 53.99 litres (vented brimmed tank) from a vented brimmed tank only got 52 mpg!! car has only got 1200 mile on it.

I had been expecting to be very close to the official combined figure, but it looks like my car is going to be a long way short of the mark.[:@]

Checked the tyre pressures this evening 30 in front 27 in the back, have raised them to 33f & 30r see if that helps

I know there is time for the engine to loosen up as the mileage goes up, but my 06 Fiesta 1.6TDCi returned 59MPG at the same mileage.

The amount of fuel in the tank doesn't affect the mpg figure, well it will in that your car is heavier so will use more fuel. :bleh:

I know mine is the 2.0 TDi and maybe my engine is doing slightly less work meaning less fuel. But I can get 55mpg without really trying too hard, I'm surprised the 1.6 is returning these figures.

I was going to state the mileage covered on those 53.99 litres but the figures are on my desk at work. Yes I know the amount in the tank does not affect the consumption what I was trying to explain was that is was full tank to full tank so I know this is an accurate amount of fuel rather than using the fuel computer.
The car I have just parted with was a 2.0 TDi Passat, I covered 53000 miles in 21 months the overall consumption was 50.5mpg! the official combined figure being 50.4mpg
My previous car a Fiesta 1.6TDCi the official figure was 64.7mpg over the 24 months and 57000 mile the overall consumption was 65+mpg. Previous to that was a Picasso 2.0 HDi official combined figure 50.6mpg, 4 years and 111000 miles 51 MPG

So with the mileage I do and my style of driving I know the combined figure is achievable so I am expecting to be very close to the official 65mpg but unfortunately I'm nowhere near it and reading this thread, I'm not the only one!!![:@]
