So it's been less than a week since I sold my Leon Cupra running 250bhp.. I thought about buying something sensible, but who does that!?

Found a Mk3 Ibiza Cupra online for £1250.. Here's a pic of it online

So I set off with my wife to go and collect it!

Looked OK, but pictures can be deceiving!!

So, about the car...

It's a 2001 Cupra, 125k with a K03s fitted, pretty decent paint work & a clean interior.

The guy who owned it had just fitted a K03s and a list of other parts which attracted me to it. When I got to the car it was a slightly different story. Here goes...
K03s was fitted but had no boost, MIL light was on, EPC light on, T/C light on, coil overs fitted to the rear only and on the lowest setting - Had a constant wheely going on!

None the less, I continued to look around it.. Thought it was fairly clean apart from the obvious.. Asked the guy why the lights where on, his response was he fitted the K03s so it needed mapping due to over boosting and over fueling & he didn't know why the TC & EPC light where on. We took the car for a drive, it had next to no boost & what sounded like a huge amount of air leaks... Still I continued to show interest..

Next I plugged my laptop in to see what faults where on the car.. 25 in total, a personal record! Had a look through and obviously they where MAF, Boost, Lambda related along with some ABS faults.. Had a look at some live data and on idle the MAF looked OK. Took it for a drive again while watching the data which confirmed a boost leak post MAF.. Didn't bother looking as it was pretty dark & cold.

Long and short of it I got him down from £1250 to £840 as I listed the issues with the car that will need sorting, handed over the cash and set about driving home..

Now it gets interesting...

Once the car was home, had a look around in the garage and this is what I found..

Post MAF so the source of the air leak - Can anyone tell me what this valve is and should it be connected to the TIP?..

Over tightened clip on air filter and split the reducer hose..

Secured to the MAF with the best solution known to man..

VAC hose from actuator - The classic screw in pipe bung and Oh wait.. The other end not connected.. No wonder it had boost issues

Hhmmmm.. I don't know where this pipe goes, so I'll just put it on the AC hard pipe VAC point....

There's a couple of strings left in there!!

Can anyone tell me what this is?? My thoughts are it goes to the original air box?

An interesting DV VAC hose route..

After I had a good chuckle to myself and these 'Special' mods I thought I'd take a look in the boot, here's what I found....

FMIC ..

20mm Rear spacers..

Cam Belt Kit

Coil Overs

Forge Hoses..

K03 Turbo

I'll get some pics of the actual car later and you can all laugh at the current coil over set up! haha.

First track day is likely to be May 13th at Donnington with a friend in his Nova C20XE running decent power and an E46 M3..

Plans before then are Bucket seats, stripped out interior, sort out the coil overs on the rear, fit the fronts, fit the FMIC, sort out the silly pipe work & other little bits & get it mapped for the K03s.. Although I have an almost complete K04 set up and a friend who said he'd give me K04 injectors & MAF so I'm tempted to put that on as it wont cost me anything.....

Anyway, I'll be updating as I go...

Enjoy! [B)]

Yesterday I decided to sort out all the VAC pipe work & locate all boost leaks...

Got everything connected up, cleared all fault codes.. Nothing returned so looked good. Took a drive down the road expecting to have full boost again.. Nope. Still a huge leak

Returned home & set about investigating what was wrong.. Found the TIP had no jubilee clip on & was half off the compressor wheel.

Pulled it off as it didn't want to go back on properly and found it looking like this..

Looks to be trimmed too close to the bend & not cut straight.. Every time I tried to tighten the clip it just pulled itself off the turbo as the TIP wouldn't sit at the right angle..

Ended up making a little sleeve up from some left over pipe from another build I've done..

Doesn't look too pretty but has done the job.. Back to full boost, although still doesn't feel quite right.

Anyone with a K03s tell me if it doesn't feel quite right until mapped?

Is it not mapped at all? It should be 'ok' without a specific map (or stage 2)

Looks like a proper homebrew **** up when you picked it up!

Just get miles of new vac hose, and set about replacing

Nope not mapped at all.. It feels 'ok' but just seems to lack something... It was a mess when I picked it up.

The 3 way valve next to the TIP has the top long pipe blanked off.. Is that right?

Seem to be doing little bits with the spare time I get..

Had 20 mins to fill so tided up the engine bay pipe work a little -

Also, can anyone tell me what this valve is & what it does please?? Also knowing what pipes should be going to/from it would be helpful! -

..

On the look out for some bucket seats & harnesses if anyone has or knows of any!

Thanks dude.. Keeping it road legal.. Bucket seats, harnesses, stripping out unneeded weight.. Front & rear strut braces, bigger brakes & ideally a cage but can't find one!!
I'll have it mapped..
Aiming for 230-240bhp with the reduced weight should be good fun!
