Ibiza FR TDI surging?

Hey guys, recently got a '07 FR TDI, 30000 miles with FSH. I've noticed one problem with it though which is putting a damper on the driving experience.

When i'm driving and come off the throttle, then come back on the throttle gently the car surges as if i'm in too high a gear. It only ever happens on the slightest feather touch of the pedal. The local Seat dealer can find no faults on diagnostics.
I think it may be something to do with the fuel cut off but not really sure

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced it or can shed some light on it.

Thanks for any help!! :D

Hi There!

Not sure if you have managed to solve your problem but i had the same thing happen to me, but mine problem was in an Audi A4 TDI and i found that it was a sensor cable for the airflow meter, I was only aware that it was an A4 problem more specifically 2004 models onwards and only PD engines, Audi ran the cable behind the manifold causing the cable to melt, they did however cover it with meterial which was heat resistant but the rubber/plastic coated cable inside never stood a chance.

With your FR having the same engine it might be the same fault?

Hope this helps?

check the fuel filter, i had a similar problem where the performance was really lathagic (i have a 56 plate FR TDi with 29k on the clock) changed the filter, as good as new again. The filter was supposed to be changed at 20k so have a look in the history and see if it was done.

Mikeyfr,

I have an 07' plate tdi fr with just over 25k on the clock and it sounds like i have the same problem. After coming off and re-applying the throttle there is an immediate judder and the car does surge slightly. It's defo not normal!

Did you have any luck in finding out what it was?

Badger the dealer to flash the ECU with the latest map.

My Toledo had a smilar thing on light throttle that was cured by re flashing the ECU.
