Ibiza Front Bushes

The front bushes on my ibiza are completely shot and a garage have just quoted me £150 + VAT to replace them. I know the bushes are only about £10 so it seems a bit steep to me to fit a couple of bushes?

Can anyone advise?

The bushes are a little more than £10 and that is the price for each..

After that, its obviously down to labour.. About an hour and a half at a garage.

Have they said they will do wheel alignment for that price too?

Id advise getting cupra bushes if they're the front wishbone rear bushes you need doing, I just had mine done this weekend for £90 labour and got bushes for 17 from Dave @ Sere!

Yeah ive you're getting new ones may aswell get uprated set. Get some cupra bushes or powerflex.
As mentioned above cupra bushes are £17 and powerflex are about £25

Thats 25 each for power flex isn't it? Cupra ones were 17 for the pair

Its a lot easier to fit the powerflex ones.. So would be less labour in theory.

I got one done last year - the bush cost £8 plus VAT but the labour was about 2 hours.

Apparently they're a B%^$$d to get out to quote the mechanic...

Depends on how much you value your leisure time. Its not a bad price for a garage though, power flex or cupra bushes will be a good upgrade as the above have said ^^.

I have had both and would say the cupra bushes, possibly provided less vibration than the powerflex bushes did. Non the less you probably wont notice the difference in powerflex and cupra, you will notice a difference over standard though as you wont be replacing them again in a year or so's time.

I had a look last night and decided Il replace the whole wishbone with new bushes as it will probably be easier. Looks like an easy enough job so Il give it a crack myself I think.

Don't think Il bother with the Cupra bushes, the standard ride is pretty shocking on the roads round here anyway, and probably why the bushes are falling to bits!

The wishbones don't come with bushes anyway.. Well not the rear ones!

So you'll be no better off just buying the wishbone.

The ones Ive been looking at online to come with the bushes. Is it easier to remove the wishbone entirely and press them in or can you do it while there still on the car? Also theres the matter of getting the old ones out!

It's usually the console bush that the wishbone fits into which fails not the one you would get with a new wishbone

I would 1000000000000% advise you to change your mind.

You could replace the wishbone, but if you do so, bear in mind you'll NEED the tracking to be done afterwards, and you'll be putting a standard voided bush (as supplied with the wishbone) back on the car. This voided bush will last absolutely no longer than 20k miles.

Whilst I'd agree the roads and shocking, it's not all the road's fault these bushes fail, the problem is with the design of the standard ones, they are voided! A Cupra one is a solid, non-voided rubber bush and so it won't fail again. Every Ibiza should have been fitted with the Cupra bush from factory.

I've got Cupra ones on mine and the ride is not that much worse, it is in fact better, as the wheels no longer move in the arch when you brake!

£150 is not a bad price either. I've seen quotes for the same job of £300 before. I'd let the garage get on with it, just supply the Cupra bush yourself and insist they fit them. If you can get the tracking included in the price then you've got yourself a deal.
