ibiza gti 1.8 16v tapping noise coming from the engine?

Hi there ppl

Firstly I am new to this forum

I have a n reg 1.8 16v I ibiza gti and the engine has a tapping noise like tappet sound and am I tight that these are hydraulic lifters in these?

Also this noise gets louder when the car gets warmer

It does have a oil burning problem anyway I have to put in about 5 litres a month

Any help would be great like what causes and how to fix and any little tricks to stop this

doesn't sound hopeful with that much of an oil appetite but likely valve guide's and seals worn out + possible something in the top end worn causing the rattle

time to take the cam cover off and have a look really

is there any chance that it could be the wrong oil the old owner used
