Fuel pump relay £8.65

http://www.car-partsonline.com

I had the same issue on my golf, im thinking its the relay or pump.

There is also a possibility of bad fuel, if you are on the same tank of fuel as when you bought it, although probably unlikely.

the above place sell pumps for £60, check gsf parts also. I cant guarantee anything but see what others think, but im thinking its either pump or relay. probably pump.

You find from american forums that garages over there are adept at finding faults using meters etc, they know their stuff, over here you take it to a garage and they just seem to replace whatever they feel like and charge you for it!

hi guys after having enough of this problem i decided to buy another car, i finally got the car in the garage to get the problem sorted as the car is on ebay, the fault was an faulty power relay that needed soldering back together and it cost me 77 pound all inclusive to be fixed, So if anyone wants a really decent ibiza gti 8v thats hads loads of new parts fitted then this one is the car 4 you, its on ebay and its a cupra sport yellow version, based in yeovil, somerset. Cheers guys for all your help :D

Mate they are really good cars, not many problems so maybe consider keeping it.

Your issue is unusual, most faults are easy to find and easy to fix.

Plus i dont think you will get much for it, im considering selling mine as id like a 16v, its clean but im sure its not worth much.

Just a quick question. i had some dodgy looking couple look at the car, he took the oil cap of and said, oh the revs dropped, you got headgasket problems, they hardly even dropped, i was like, well i havnt had any problems with the car over heating or any leaks etc, so is it me or was he trying it on, then he had the cheek to nit pick at it and said there is rust coming through on the arches on the inner lip, and i said wel its an r reg ibiza, they all go there unless u repair or keep the inner arches clean constantly, oh and the drivers door drops a bit when you open it, again they are heavy doors and stress the hinges over the years, i even had a receipt from the garage saying the car was in good mechanical condition as i had it booked in for the cutting out fault as well as a checkover just to make sure there was nothing wrong with it. So i stayed up all evening for them to turn up late, kick the tyres and 4 him 2 slate it, lie in front of me saying its got an oil leak which it hasnt, and i couldnt argue it with him because i was stood in the doorway with my 1 year old trying to keep her warm, but i did show him the garage receipt, and i would of asked him to show me if i didnt have the little one with me on my own, all for them to compare it to an ibiza they had a month ago which they sold???, then the cheek to offer me 300 quid less than we agreed over the phone, so i have missed out on sleep and now i have to start a 12 hour shift on 3 hrs sleep over the last 2 days, so im seriously :censored: off [:@].

Anyway rant over, the original question is, is there headgasket problems with a seat if you undo the oil filler cap and the revs drop SLIGHTLY, im no mechanic but know the basics, ie i can change brakes service it etc if i had to, Im asking this as i dont want to sell a car that will break in a month, but bearing in mind iv had the car 5 months with no water or oil leaks or any overheating whatso ever, using it to do school runs, shoping, leasure trips and 100 mile trips to the childrens hospital for my little one, due to her operations etc

Complete nonsense them saying that, if they sold one before sounds like they may be buying to sell on.

I had similar happen to me, ended up keeping the deposit after the buyers dad came and complained the glovebox 'rattled' on a 14 year old car at a very good price!

I would avoid selling to anyone like that, they are the kind of people who will come back after a sale saying they have problems and ask you to fix it.

Get the car spotless inside and out, then print several copies of an A4 page with the price clearly written on it, then another A4 page with all the details of the car and your number, then park it somewhere where it isnt in the way on a busy (ish) road.

Also try this site, pistonheads website which is free, i find ebay gives you low final prices for high inclusion fees, autotrader is quite pricey also.

If you arent comfortable with any potential buyer avoid them.

thanks rob for your reply, you have put my mind at rest, thinking about it and from what you have said, im glad i never sold it to them. Thanks rob :D

Also re little one.

If you get on well with your neighbours ask if they might mind your child while you show people your car, its very difficult to stop people making off with it if you are holding a child.

thats a good idea, usally the missis is here but she goes to work in the afternoons.
