Hi, I am having problems with my key fob. The central locking part of the key fob has stoped working. I have changed the battery, but this has not worked. So I am thinking its packed up !!. Has anybody any idea how much a replacement key body would cost. Just the main body and not the key part ?.

Thanks :)

It prob needs recoding, there is a way of recoding it yourself as long as you have 2 keys you can do it

I forget exactly but it's pretty simple and I'm sure the instructions are in the flip key info thread

mine did that and i just got another normal remote key off ebay swapped the blade over from the old key and recoded with the instructions from the flip key thread.

you could also go down the flip key route as i did eventually:)

just a quick question slightly off topic... is there any way of setting the alarm off with the key fob? for instance if theres a bunch of kids leaning on your car[:@]

Don't think so mate

Just go and have a calm word with them and ask them to stop doing it, stick your hand down the front of your tracky bottoms, drop in a couple of "init's" and a bit of text speak and they will think you are one of them and leave well alone :D

Hi Guys!

Mine Keeps Doing This But its not a flip key its standard fob! Any Chance anyone would no what to do without havin to go to dealer and spend 50 quid on recoding!

Here is the flip key info thread

http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=102433

on the first post it says "to code the remote you need the old original key in the ignition with it turned on then lock the door with the new key remove key then press unlock and horn will blip wait 6 second and press unlock again the key is now coded to your car!"

That should do it

When you say "old original key" is this the one without the lock & unlock buttons on it?

I tried this method after replacing the battery in the key fob, but it did nothing.

I think it may be more serious as the key fob just stopped working instantly for no reason on Sunday, it worked one minute and then nothing :confused::confused:

I relaced the battery in the fob but still nothing, any ideas????

My remote normal key packed in too mate, it would work V.Rarely then not at all. I'm sure Ive read somewhere on the web if not on here how they can be a little tempremental, so I plunged for a flip key after pondering it for ages. It worked a treat, and now I have full remote control, which seems to be very reliable.

Can you remember the total cost you spent on replacing with the flip key?

It cost me £15 for the key off ebay (there are quite a few, it's getting them for the right price that's the problem) £7 for cutting and £3 ish for a Seat Badge to stick back on. So all in about £25.

Pretty reasonable then.

Think I may see what the Seat Stealers say and want to charge me before I go down that route.

On some of the ebay auction site's they were saying to expect approximately £160 but I'm not sure how true that would be.

Let us know how much the dealer quotes Dan.

Cheers

Is the new battery the same voltage as the old one? There are 1.5v and 3v versions that are the same size IIRC.

Edit, Stealers will charge 160 odd quid for a new (non flip) key and programing.
