Ibiza owners - Not satisfied ?

I have just bought my Ibiza (don't have it yet) but before I did buy it I looked at various reviews etc and all was good but I found some driver survey that had been done and apparently the Ibiza was 100 and something in driver satisfaction survey

In other words Ibiza drivers aren't happy with their cars

This was a 2015 survey so maybe they are happier with the newer models

I thought while the pre-facelift 2015 Ibiza SC was good on the outside, the interior was a huge let down. However when they upgraded it to TSI engines (excluding twin charged ones), the 6.5" SatNav/Infortainment, a slight refreshed interior, and the sports Steering wheel with buttons, from the Leon Mk3, plus option of a soundsystem with a sub in the boot and Bi-xenons...I was sold. I will be sad to let it go end of this year, as the don't do the alor blue colour no more...nor the black 17" Tagus rims...and the new Mk6 Ibiza, they shrunk the Leon, and it's even better!

My brand new 2015 cost 9k versus the RRP of 15k. For me that buys a lot of "happy with the car credit". It's cheap as chips, so the failed AC needing a new compressor and binding brakes don't annoy me much. All my SEATs have been massively discounted so I'm happy.

Was the survey new or used cars? Some Ibiza's get tuned and chipped, thrashed and crashed, and you can see on the forum here people having trouble with modified cars.

I can't even find the survey so I am not sure to be honest... maybe I imagined it but in the survey it did say it was 2015 so the newer models may have improved

2008 ibiza, not satisfied with reliability... otherwise the car does what is suppose to...

but I believe it is because it's one of the early versions, later cars improved in some points I had problems.

So how long has VW owned Seat as VW is supposed to be renowned for reliability

VW has owned Seat for so long now that you could really think of the two as branches of the same company. All of the key bits of the car are identical to their VW equivalent cars so it's reasonable to expect similar reliability.

Which Ibiza have you bought?

As long as you don't buy an early version of a new model, you should experience similar reliablities on both cars, but I think SEAT spends less into testing... and goes to market with a less refined product.
As I said mine was one of the first... for example I had to change the 4 door locks, but cars produced from 09/2008 already had new door locks.
My car is 07/2008....

Since it is just a Polo in a pretty dress (sort of by Lamborghini) you'd expect the components to be of similar quality throughout.

I agree with not buying new models though. The Toledo IV (and the identical Skoda Rapid) had truly awful suspension and steering for the first 18 months of production. I bought my first one 2 years in to the model life and the handling and ride had been improved a lot. Reliability was good too.

I have the same car and year, the FR variant. I think you'll like it. The car is very refined and tight and the 110 engine is a peach. It's so toquey, even at low revs, that it makes normal driving effortless. Car feels very light and responsive and the touch-screen system is a lot better than what you'll find in any other small car in the same price range.

Thanks that's good to know. I must admit on the test drive it was lovely to drive really good on a hill I went up which is important to me as we live in a hilly area. One thing on the car that really impressed was the gearbox.... Lovely

We have a Citroen at the moment with touch screen and its no way near as good as the one in the ibiza

As a poodling around car it's hard to fault. Light, accurate steering and gearbox, loads of usable torque even at very low revs and if you want to overtake it has a pep to do it.

The info system is good and noticeable improvement on the previous incarnation found in the Leon. The suspension is also better than earlier Ibizas, these are effectively run-out cars and benefit from years of development. I spent a lot of time looking at different cars and i thought that what you were getting in the Ibiza was hard to beat for the money.

Yes we have tried a few cars and the ibiza was easily one of the best if not the best. We tried a fiat 500x and that was horrible

Good. It's stable and you'll have the 6-speed gearbox so the engine is inaudible at 70mph! Feels like a bigger car.

It what way didn't you like the Fiat 500? I've never even sat it one but they are very popular cars. I wouldn't touch a Fiat personally but a friend has a Punto and it's been a good car.

Well the fiat x is the Larger one like a crossover. I did not like the seating position or instruments and it was utterly gutless. Seemed like design over substance

The problem with most consumer reviews is that people leave reviews straight away. You buy something and you're instantly asked for feedback. The reality is you have no idea what the product is like, whether a car or something you bought in eBay until you've used it / lived with it a while. Leaving a review straight away is just reviewing first impressions.

Yes true but I can only say what I knew myself on the day others will of course like the car but not me. Suppose sometimes you just know

My Mrs had a fiat 500, I hated everything about it from the serious lack of power meaning downshifting to go up minor hills, horrible hard crashy ride, uncomfortable seats, rubbish blue tooth system, so cheap you have to connect to Bluetooth and physically plug the phone in for music.

Worst of all, you pull the stalk down for wipers not up. Wtf is that all about.....
