Hi, has anyone actually got the new SC with the iPod/USB option?
If so, is there an actual dock, in the cubby hole for the ipod? It says in the brochure an additional cradle is needed but the dealers seem unsure. If anyone actually has this option it would be great if they can tell me how it works and what cable is needed and cost

You need to buy an extra (expensive) cable along with the option in the car. the option just gives you the usb port in the front, here's a pic from the configurator of where the aux in goes, I think that the usb option goes next to it:

I'd imagine the gradle plugs straight onto the usb port, so it sits there... make sense?

Nope, the USB mounts just behind the cup holders, to the left of them in that space.

I enquired about the USB option (i didn't want the ipod option, just the USB), they said £110 for parts, £100 for them to fit it. But no way will i pay them £210 for this, it seems a complete rip off!

ok, cheers thats what I thought about the cradle.
Is the actual cable (costing 60quid) for ipod connection a ipod connector 1 end and a USB and 3.5mmjack the other?
When talking 2 different dealers they didn't seem to know! very helpful.

yes and I think it charges it also. But its a cradle rather than just a cable which then you can control your songs from the radio with track names also

I was told by SEAT that it wasn't a simple matter of plugging a cable in the back of the radio, there was a box of tricks between the back of the radio and the usb/cradle. That's why it costs so much, they also said it was difficult to fit by the customer (which they would do!), that's why it costs £100 for them to fit it!

im looking at getting factory fitted when i order the car. £93 option and obviously another £60 for the cable

That's a better idea than post-sales !. If you ever think you might use that option then get it done when ordering, otherwise you could end up out of pocket by best part of £100 having it done afterwards !
