Ibiza Ticking Over Rough

Two weeks ago my Ibiza started losing power at speed, like I was taking my foot off the accelerator... it then started to cut out when I stopped at lights/junctions, this became worse and worse till she died, she was taken to a garage and they have done the following:

New
Throttle Body
Diz cap
HT leads
Plugs
Rotar arm
Fuel filter
Coil

She is now purring like a kitten when hot but won't tick over cold, any ideas?? they are talking of putting new distributor on next and I have run out of money!

i take it they've read the fault memory and checked the timing before they started throwing parts at it?

Yeah they had it on the computer said it was showing no faults now and checked the timing with some sort of light? sorry I am not familiar with anything under the bonnet, I am a none mechanical female!

a timing light - this only checks the ignition timing they need to check the valve timing aswell or be thinking about a coolant temp sensor.

Thanks I will ask them tomorrow if they have done that. I have a feeling he is baffled with it.

yeh it sounds like it, replacing parts willy nilly in 99% of cases on results in one thing...
a bloody big bill for the customer and an un-repaired fault
