Thorough is my middle name...well no it isn't actually, its Achmel, anyways.....

News on the brake front - probably going with AP's, nice looking caliper called the CP4567, its actually a F3 caliper and will go under 13" wheels with a 22 x 280mm disk, so should fit no problem - radial mount, differential bore pistons, nice. My favourite Ferodo DS2500 or 3000 pads are available. Going to get BG Developments in BHam to sort mount brackets out. Have to say AP are a pleasure to deal with - excellent technical help at end of phone.

Ave it

Rob

BG for brkts!!! oh well, hope you have a drill and file to hand to adjust them to fit..
shocking fit on mine, and still waiting for replacements, and they had everything in front of them to make them fit (hub, wheel) - :(

I have the CP5000 calipers..

BG are true fag packet machine shop stylee.. old skool but well cr4p in the dwg side of things. My friends machine shop has done some sub con work for them after I reccomended him to them, as BG are always inundated in my experience.... rushing, and cocking things up as a consequence on "specials" occasionally.

Good company to deal with otherwise but this is a downside with em... and why I get my brackets made by my friends shop. Its right, so long as I designed it right when I drew it.. LOL (spot the flaw in that plan :p )

ickle baby AP's then m8..
be interesting to see how they cope heat wise..

I do remember you telling me all this before - but as usual, getting someone to actually do stuff for you when its not just straight off the shelf is really hard - I am no engineer but maybe I can mock this up just as well as them myself - then your mate could machine them - chat about it Sat. The reason I am not 'too' concerned about downsizing my brakes is that (1) I am not that hard on brakes (2) most of what I do nowadays is sprint and hillclimb and this only has maybe 6-10 applications all run (3) the car is getting lighter (4) 280 x 22 is still a fair size disk and when gripped with an AP caliper and air ducted to it, it should be upto it. I will have the option to go upto a 280 bell mounted floating disk if need be anyhow.

Its a bit of an issue getting 'big' brakes inside a 15 on a saloon when you start to get more racey geometry - and I want to stay with 15's for tyre choice and to use the multiple sets of wheels and tyres I already have. 280 may well not be enough but I need to give it a try

You know which 5000 caliper you have ? (5000 is the range, there is no 5000 caliper per se) suspect a 5040

Cheers

Rob

If you need a good flexible machine shop I know of one that does work for A1GP, FPA, Drag racers

Just need to supply a drawing, but will work from a sketch as well

Latest - finally got ARB's from H+R after total disaster trying to deal with Impossible Performance, for others reference, H+R ARB's can be obtained from Motorsport Tuning (Tillbury Essex). Got a 25mm front (VR6 type) and a 28mm rear (golf Mk2 16V type). Fitted the front last night and went on just fine. Rear is adjustable like Neuspeed one and comes with some really nice cast ali droplinks. £170 apiece delivered.

Latest on brakes is that I have ordered stuff ffrom Hispec via a local shop to me Redline Motorsport in Middlewich. 299x32 Nascar disks from performance friction (with PF pads), floating and bell mounted. Hispec R-1-14-4 4-pot caliper. Should do the job.

Pictures of whole front end assembled once brakes arrive

Cheers

Drop links are rubber bushed.......and maybe mine are going spare since I already have the rod end links - need to see if all rear fits ok first before I offer em to ya

I had the last 2 rear beam bushes from VWM - as used in polo challenge rally cars.

Only others I know of are from Bonrath but I think you have to buy them as part of a set, did when I enquired

Cheers

No probs. If you put a call into ABC then they should be able to give you a list of the best priced suppliers. Failing that, you could sign up to be a supplier yourself and do us some further deals ;) :D
