Took new bumper off earlier tonight for paint prep and thought I would put old one back on to measure bumper relative ground clearances (std 16V Mk2 one with black rubber/plastic strip at bottom)

old one - front 150mm, rear 120mm
new one - front 100mm, rear 70mm

50mm difference between them - and my old one is battle scarred.......hmm

will be getting a full set of proflex once saved up a bit of cash again and also decided on rear end - may be fitting golf 3 VR6 rear axle and golf and ibiza are different shocks on rear, ibiza being shorter as they have a higher lower damper mounting point - and I dont want to buy proflex twice !

these will raise the car a touch, the spax's I have on it right now are as high as they will go (quite interesting to compare to Bill's PSS9's - 2 sets of aftermarket shocks for same car, mine are as high as they will go and bills, at similar ride height, were as low as they would go and were probably on the bumpstops - more like off roader shocks at full droop)

other thing I will be doing is putting taller tyres on for road use - 225/55/16 eagles to match the 205/45/16 eagles on back (that are currently also on front), these will raise front by 31.5mm so thats getting reasonable again.

change one thing, need to change another, jobs never over it seems

if I do end up making the rear of car widetrack also, then 18" 6 spoke MO time.....pukka rally slag

ave it

great british suppliers eh?

its not hard, they have either left the factory or they haven't

then all you need to know is who they are with (courier) or when they are leaving the factory

which of course you know rob, its just purveying that across to supplier in question thats an art form ;)

Dont really know how to express my anger. Eric at AAT called me at lunchtime today, after the millionth time I called them trying to find out whats going on, and unfortunately I missed his call. Anyhow, the wheels dont exist......ATS in germany cannot supply them before end of march at the earliest......this is despite being told repeatedly over the last few weeks that they are definately coming, be here tomorrow, they are with the couriers etc etc. Total lies. Its just as well I missed his call and still cannot bring myself to call them up.

What a total shambles of a company - 4th Dec last year I ordered wheels and I have been fobbed off since. Pack up shop lads, you are a waste of space and a disgrace to the motorsport community.

Please tell your friends - I intend to tell everyone I meet this year in the paddock.

Angry isn't the word, I pity the heavy bag tonight at the gym.......

panels are back and fitted, look ace, all I need now is some wheels........

priced up image, too dear, £313 apiece for 16's and £290 apiece for 15's, too much especially when my tyres are going to cost £180+vat apiece

going to be compomotive through badger-5 who I must say rarely let me down......
