The Sheeat Ibzia 1.2s is without doubt the worst car ever built. I've owned minis and marinas that were more reliable. after draining my pocket for 18 months the piece of crap is finally in it's death throws. Having paid over £500 to replace the sewing machine timing chain it's now decided to report low oil pressure when hot. the specialist garage has given up after changing the oil pump and everything else they could think of. I bought it at 30k with full stealer history and will be glad to see the back of it. Volkswagen engine! Crap. I'm tempted to pay some hooded youths to smash it up for a laugh. IF YOU ARE THINKING OF BUYING A SEAT, DONT!!!!! YOU WILL BE SORRY see the pain in these forums for proof.
The only good thing about the whole experience is that i now know a hell of a lot about Ibiza's

rant over goodbye. thank **** i'll never need these forums again.

Tough luck. Must have been a Friday at 5 o clock job. Nothing specific to ibizas, Can happen to any make or model. Aston martins sometimes go bang, and for £100,000 you'd expect it not to do that.

One ibiza is not generaliseable to the entire model. Unfortunate you've had a bad experience with one, my 1.2 has never skipped a beat or put a foot out of line. Hope you have better luck with a non-VAG car.

Tbh i think you've just had bad luck, nothing else. Imo, the 1.2 engine is not the greatest engine, seems to be quite a few common faults with it. To tell people not to buy a seat because of the problems you have read on here is just ludicrous, you do realise that the point of these type of forums are to get help for any problems with their cars. Nobody will ever come on and tell the world how great there car is!

PS. my car is great.

You really don't have a clue do you? An un informed rant does make me laugh. You sound like the kind of person who gets all his car knowledge from Top Gear.

At the end of the day you were unlucky, believe it or not every car has the potential to break down. Count your self luck you don't own a French or Italian car as they'd cost you a lot more money to fix.

Said it time and time again, the 1.2 is the dog of the range. Small engines cheap cars, simple and cheap to fix. Shame on vag lumbering people with this rubbish.

If you want a decent ibiza get one with a turbo. If you need a decent small car with small engine look elsewhere.

Happy to say my 1.2s Is great, passed its MOT today, with just the front rear wishbone bushes as an advisory and the rusted back box.

not all the engines are dogs. As for getting a turbo, its just something else to go wrong.
Just remember not everybody can afford to shell out a huge amount of money then be able to insure it, insurance on the 1.2 is enough let alone a 100/130/160 bhp engine, when you're 17/18. Just try getting a quote as an 17/18 yo male who has just passed your test, then look at it with a quote for a corsa c 1.2 instead of an ibiza.

Its the problem i had 2 years ago.

Yes the early 1.2's did have issues but AGAIN I challenge anyone to find these issues on a car that was made after 2004...

Mine runs as sweet as a nut, I give it a full service every year at a cost of £30 - thus keeping everything fresh, it's done 68k now and feels better than it did with 26k on the clock.
I run it on super unleaded all the time and returns about 500 miles to the tank / 43 - 48mpg.

I have no complaints.

Yes it's underpowered, but it's cheap to run and insure.

I'm on my third too, though I must admit my pd130 wasn't the best but I put that down to neglection by the previous owners. My 1.4tdi and Cupra tdi have been excellent.

my mrs has had her 1.2 since 2007 now. it was on 6k when she bought it with 1 previous owner & full service history. we've put another 50k on it since then. its never had a proper service so to speak. only when ive done it my self on the driveway. during that time its never missed a beat. its never broke down & i have to say its one of the most reliable cars ive known & ive had a lot of cars in my time. its just like anything else. you get good ones & bad ones.
