Does anybody no why my car is twitching in idle.

When it is in idle it is twitching and the needle moves slightly but you can feel the twitch quite a bit.

When I apply very little revs it goes completely.

The car drives mint with no problems

My gears are fine it's just purely on idle. Been told to clean throttle body and have it reset.

Hi guys, I've currently got the same problem however I notice it when driving and
Sometimes get a funny smell. Can anyone help

Air con compressor cutting in .

What sort of smell ........... probably air con bacterial growth ........... probably legionaires .........get the air con serviced . Or alternatively previous owner was hairy bottomed alpha male who showered once a year ( but only in leap years ) and made the seat smelly.

N/B

Dont play Miss Cyrus on the radio ...... the seats start twirking

Lol, no a young lad who sold me a lemon not a leon!!
Ok I'll get it looked at, Thanks. What would u say about the idle?
It seems to have got worse over last couple of days, juddering when l stop.
Read something about a PVC valve!
I'm a girl without a clue:cry:
But I love my car and more problems I'm having l might have to get rid:(

Do you know anyone with a fault code reader ? if so post the fault codes up after reading .

If not go to a garage and get the codes read and post them up . It could be one of many parts and this will lead us in the right direction.

Possibilities :-
Maff
oyx sensor
Throttle body
pvc system leak
PVC valve stuck open
PVC valve stuck closed
Dipstick tube fractured allowing air into PCv
spark plugs
coil packs
CT sensor
Cam position sensor
Knock sensor
Crank sensor
the list goes on and on .

The car has very good self diagnostics and so by reading the codes we can direct you ( or a vag dealer can ) to the faulty part with some precision and vag parts are very cheap compared to say TOYOTA .

No it's new it was cleared after. I've got a thing that works with my phone so I'm able to check for codes. I have a rubbish dump valve that makes my engine management light come on so we keep clearing it.

o2 sensor heater circuit bank 1 sensor 1

this suggests that your o2 sensor needs replacing .......... get genuine VAG ...........pattern are rubbish . Dont short the wires against the body or exhaust pipe while it is unplugged or the ECU will be damaged.

I would change the dump valve for VAG stock one ........ they are cheap and work just as well ......... its just a fashion thing to change them .

Yeah I'm not liking the dump valve. Have tried to get it back to standard but I'm missing a lot of pipe work apparently! but it is on my 2 do list.

Hi had the the twitch. I have now cleaned the throttle body and it has improved loads. No twitch now but I did not disconnect the throttle body electrical cable I just removed it and had the accelerator pressed so the butterfly opened.

Good to hear. Ok sounds good thanks. I'll get the better half at it:)
What did u use to clean it with? How about carb cleaner?
