Hi Guys and Girls decided that as cool as they are Golfs aren't for me and my heart lies with the Ibiza.
Not 100% whether I'm going to get a cheap MK2 & stick a 2.0FSI Turbo lump in it (advice on the feasability would be greatly appreciated) or be lazy and get a MK3 20vt!
Either way it'll be running around 250bhp with similar touque & I want it to handle & stop!
I've been doing a rough budget (which will no doubt double) and have decided on a suspension setup (Koni coilovers, 28mm rear ARB 23 front, Fr & Rr Strut's, 15mm Rr Spacers & plenty of poly bushes) & all cosmetic & interior mods now I get to my conundrum, Brakes.
I'll be going Brembo or Porsche depending on the response here. ideally I'd like to stick some LCR brakes on it but not sure if they'll fit under 17's (know I'd have to change the hubs to 5 stud & no doubt spacers) and what the extra unsprung weight of the brakes and Wheels would do to the handling?
I had a MK2 Cupra 16v on the std Ronal 16's from the factory and it handled well I was just wondering what effect 17's have on the handling?? can a few people let me in on their postive & negative experiences.
The wheels will be either Pro Race 1.2's or OZ Super/Ultraleggra's so as light as std just bigger with the lowest profile rubber (195/45R17 or 215/35R17) I can get my hands on.
Failing being able to get the LCR Brakes on I'll be sticking with the same wheels in 16in form & going Ibiza Cupra R Brembo's (or maybe boxter's).
I would like some feedback on tyre sizes, I had (on std suspension) 195/45R16 Toyo Proxes T-1's on my old Ibiza and they were OK but I'd like a bit more grip on both cornering and launch (will be fitting an LSD to help) as I'll have another 100bhp so was thinking either these 205/40 Yoko's

or 215/40's which I know a few people have used but from past experience overtyring a car can ruin all your hard spent cash (cornering, Braking & communication mean far more to me than off the line acceleration) as you lose overall feel of what your wheels are doing (had a 205 Gti on 215 width tyres which felt numb and would aquaplane at the sight of a moist pair of knickers) how does the Cupra deal with them.
Hope this makes some kind of sense.
Cheers Guys
