Guys, let me put the record straight. It may take a while! We quote +25 on the 170. Our car saw more than 170 as you quoted earlier, unless you are very unlucky then yours will too. It is no different to my K1 with 240 as standard! What a joke, it’s a 2 wheel drive SEAT S3 lets face it! 260 is more like it! We deal with these engines in VAG cars globally in more than 20 territories and have access to dyno results from most types of Dynos in most types of conditions. Even in crap conditions VAG have to make sure you get the figures regardless, if they quoted around 180-190+ as some of your cars could be, then the guy making 170 would be most upset and probably take legal action! We quote a lower end achievable figure as our “Revo Bhp” too, we have to. We are not just a UK tuner remember and have to take into account certain cars out there in the world just come out the factory weaker/stronger than others. If we quoted 170 as the standard power achieved (VAG figures) and 220 as the “ Revo Bhp” for instance then we would be implying you are gaining +55 and you probably wouldn’t be able to achieve it most cases so we quote +25. That’s why we get Emails all the time from happy people who go to the Dyno and get more than expected and in some cases a hell of a lot more!

If the CC car has 220 as mentioned In the above post , The Laws of Physics say it wont be as quick as a new 300-330ps Sti with 400-470 nm ! 0-60 in around 5! (exact Sti model dependent ) Something like a K1 Stage 2 with well over 300 horses (That’s the “Revo Bhp” we quote for a "STAGE 1" K1 by the way) KW Variant 3‘s, full turbo back centre exit Milltek………………that’s what you need if you want to wup a higher level machine.( Like the K1 in my garage). If you are ever in our neck of the woods you are welcome to come down to Revo in your new standard K1 and see the difference between the 2 if you wish. You will be amazed!

Aggressive map doesnt equal a fast car either. Saying if your car came standard with 190hp is a 35hp gain really worth 500 quid? Also then there is dyno lottery to include. On another set of rollers your car might only make 210hp.

Hhmm Funny that...having grown up with the strip (1/4 mile racing) and building our (me & my dad) own custom big block cars (2 x V8 Landrovers, 2 x V8 capri's and a Plymouth Roadrunner V8 500+BHP) I've grown up with the knowledge and understanding that the EVO & SCOOBIES loose 90BHP+ at the wheels anyway - everyman whose a real car enthusiast knows this - the new STi is only 280BHP standard from the factory anyway, and losing 90BHP at his wheels while I was chasing him, puts his BHP at about 190-200BHP, so yeah it was an STi and I had a fighting chance and I knew it and so did he when we pulled over into the services much after and called me "Crazy - Wot on earth have you got under your bonnet?" He couldn't believe it was a diesel car!

Not every car race comes down to whose got the fastest car on paper! I fully believe that it comes down to the driver, is knowledge & experience of race driving at being able to handle and push his own car too the limits whilst still safe - like myself!

You shouldn't always assume that the car in your rear view mirror is standard! Not everyone modifys the looks of the car or the stereos, and don't touch underneath the bonnet - the real car enthusiasts start with the basic knowledge first - we modify our engines.

Yeah, like your style. i love cars but have allways been a french man so i know alot about them but not much about other cars. so if someone said they got a 400bhp scooby its actually 310bhp??
 
Sorry for being naive but I'm trying to get my head around this re map stuff lol... Does it mean getting some kind of re programming on the cars computer? or is there more to it then that.... do they effect warranties? are they reliable etc?

Check with your dealer if for warranty. (Most cases say yes aparantly) Reliable ...maybe?? Depending on your car.. I.e clutch..dfp.. And yes they re-work your ecu.

Yeah - basically the 4wd evo's & scoobies loose bhp through there drive train because of the 4wd system.

the new scooby STi's are only 280bhp standard, then he's gonna loose upto 90bhp on top of that!

90+ hp lose through drivetrain is overkill. At most its more like 45hp, half the figure you quote, and maybe this guy cannot drive. I can quarantee you that if you come up against a nice evo or scooby sti (and the power varys massively from model), your FR doesnt stand a chance just like what revo martyn has said. And the majority of evo's and scoobies you will come across that will play arent standard anyway.

Personally I would start with the suspension.
 
Mpg is reported by some of our customers to remain around the same, some say its much better. It depends how you drive it and the individual car, mileage/fuel quality and so on……My K1 gets around 2-3 mpg more after the remap.

For the record the new Scooby wrx is quoted at 230ps, the wrx type S is uprated to 255 and the Sti Type UK is 300, the Sti 330s, you guessed it 330ps! You are always going to have a bigger loss on a 4wd car but the Scooby is not designed to be a strip car anyhow so traction makes up for it in the real world. The strip tells you about as much as the Dyno. I had a v8 Kit car that would hit 60 in around 3 and would kill my Leon in a straight line but it wouldn’t get near my Leon in the real world. I do agree with the fact that the driver is as important as the car as Tim Sugden proved at the Audi driver trackday the other week. (I will post a video of that soon) Every car has its plus points and is good in certain situations and not so good in others. The Sti guy will never return your mpg to performance ratio for one. We all want something that suits us, that’s why we have different cars, I want the best all rounder. Others want Halo Bhp figures, others Mpg, others cornering ability. Also a faster car does not have to use more fuel, that is a myth, cars can run more or less efficiently depending on the map, Fuel, weather and so on.
 
Revo do you know if you giving the boys at Braintree "Grants" Seat the training?? I know they are to use Revo. I raced a stage 1, 1.8 20v turbo 200bhp cupra yesterday and he we stayed side by side untill 4th gear where he just left me standing. :cry: I want to see the power of Revo.
 
Personaly, I'd wait to see how the DPF issue is sorted.

I'd also just get a run on a Dyno & see what your are putting out, as said earlier a lot are putting out 10-15% more than the quoted "170"

I did an SCN day down at Superchips earlier in the year, the only other mk2 there was their own & I belive that was mapped & putting out 212bhp, but originaly was 182bhp .


Factory standard with about 8,000miles on the clock, running on Sainsbury basic derv.

I agree with Revo....its how the vehicle works in the real world that counts!!

4wd, 250 hp and a handy driver will anihilate a 300 hp Cupra with a great driver.......he can drive out of the corners.....and will wheelspin!!

Even on the strip....all your weight goes to the back so you cant use as much gas!!

Besides...strips are for cars that can't steer..........

Did anybody go to the Audi Castle Combe day?? RS6 four wheel drift at about a ton round Folly!!
